Overview

Fire! It's all around me, fierce, intense, out of control. I feel the hair on my arms singe and know I have only seconds before I burst into flames. Total panic. There's a horrible shrieking sound, piercing and destructive. My eardrums and eyeballs should burst. "It's hell!" I moan.

One boy's life ripped to shreds before his eyes...
One wrathful demon master hell-bent on revenge...
An army of grisly Demonata on the rampage...

It's the end of the world as we know it.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA
Shan's latest Demonata installment resumes where book five, Blood Beast (Little, Brown, 2007/VOYA February 2008), leaves off-soaring through the sky in a jumbo jet plagued by bloodthirsty demons. The initial appalling aeronautical carnage will rattle those with flight phobias; certainly the scenes here are Shan's most ghoulish work yet. It is the decision that Grubbs must make that lies at the beating heart of this novel, however, and as Shan readers know, when the Demonata are around hearts are often ripped out. This transitional novel is less plot- and character-development-driven than propelled by the need to answer questions and unite the action and characters of previous books. Characters like Beranabus and Kernel Fleck make more than cameo appearances, as well as Juni Swan and Bec, who are key players in the resolution. Yet from the initial chapters, the battle scenes quickly wax redundant, and the reader leaves the novel feeling a bit confused about the purpose of the Kah-Gash, and about the time lines Shan follows. In his usual non-didactic way, however, Shan forces characters to make very gritty choices, many of which are brought about by their own flawed pasts. Thus Grubbs must make the most momentous decision of his life and in doing so becomes the textbook tragic hero-one that despite the tedium in this novel, readers will want to learn more about in book seven. Meet the Author

Darren Shan
Darren Shan
"I was born in London in 1972 and moved to Ireland when I was 6 years old, where I've lived ever since. I always wanted to be a writer - I've loved telling stories since I was a child. I started out writing books for adults, and managed to get a couple published. One day, on a whim, I decided to try a book for children. The result was Cirque Du Freak. Much to my surprise, it took off, and I became a de facto children's author! Since then I've used my ill-gotten gains to buy lots of comic-strip art and travel the world. When I'm not working or traveling, I like watching movies.

    Demon Apocalypse book 6

I must say after book 6 that this has to be the most well written and one of the best that Darren Shan wrote so far in the Demonata series. After the cliffhanger in Blood Beast, Darren meets with Beranabus and Kernal from Demon Thief and from then on everything comes together, revelations are discovered and secrets are revealed that involves the end of the world as we know it and the return of a certain girl from a time long ago. the ending was sad but had to be done. In my review for Bec, remember how i said that the book was horrible, well you should read it once, cause there are references to that that are mentioned in this and it'll make sense if you read that. The book is very and i mean very descriptive and action packed. Grubbs is growing up and has a lot and i mean a lot to deal with than most teenagers, how much more can the poor guy take? beware that this book is pretty gorey but still awesome. so recommend this book and can't wait for the seventh installment of the Demonata series. Keep it up Darren Shan.

Grubbs Grady is back, and he wishes he wasn't.

There are two things that Grubbs regrets the most: letting his transformation take away the lives of the ones he loved, and trusting Juni. When we last left him, Grubbs was on a plane ride with Juni, who promised to take care of him and love him. But while on board, Juni's true colors appeared, and they weren't so pretty.

Turns out she had been working for Lord Loss and had used Grubbs' secrets and trust against him, lying to not only him but also to Dervish, who had fallen for her as well.

Now Grubbs is trying to fend for himself, which isn't looking so bright since Lord Loss' little helpers are happily feeding on the passengers on the plane, while Lord Loss himself is trying to take Grubbs into his realm. Of course, Grubbs would rather die than to have to go with Lord Loss. But there isn't much he can do since no one is there to help him fight off all of the demons.

Then an unlikely hero comes and saves Grubbs. Yet Grubbs knows that this isn't the end of Lord Loss, who is furious at him for ruining his game of chess. He knows that Lord Loss will not let anything stand in his way while trying to take revenge, but Grubbs isn't giving up without a fight. He survived more than once. He can surely survive again, right?

Edgy, intense, and more gruesome than the other novels in THE DEMONATA series, Darren Shan does it again with DEMON APOCALYPSE, creating a captivating novel that will leave you speechless. Darker than ever, we are just glad to see Grubbs be the one to save the world, because without him, who can?

    Demonata series: DEMON APOCALYPSE

Grubbs Grady(Grubitsch Grady) faces Lord Loss, yet again, with Juni Swan who identifies herself as an enemy not a allie. Juni has Magic potential that is very strong. She is allies with Lord Loss and will try to destroy Grubbs. she has killed. He has killed.....or has he? Grubbs turns into a werewolf. the cave near Carcery Vale is not to EVER be opened..if it has it needs to be closed. Grubbs later on meets a man named Beranabus..familiar? Dervish is in danger, as well as his brother...Billy Spleen. You will never find out what happens if you never read the thrilling Demonata series DEMON APOCALYPSE.

Defiantely NOT the best one of the series.

The first, second, third and fourth were the best. The fifth was pretty much a waste of $20.00...this one was a little bit of a step up from the fifth, but defiantely not the best and really not worth the wait of another month. The cover was pretty awesome though. Cirque Du Freak was really a great series in comparison, I loved every one of those books, so naturally I compare all of Mr. Shan's new Demonata books to the Cirque series...I am NOT saying the Demonata series sucks, I actually very much so enjoy Mr. Shan's work so far for the most part in this series.

Horror readers, your salvation has arrived!

This book, like the others in the series, is brilliant. It has a fast paced plot and leaves tantalizing hints as to future storylines. I was disappointed when the book was done, but only because I knew I would have another long 6 months to wait for the next! It's a gruesome thriller, but make sure you don't read it before the other 5!!

    THE BEST DEMONATA BOOK EVER!!!!

This book is the best ever cause iam at the very end and thought oh my god the beginning was not even boring and it got more interesting.Kernel and Grubitch Grady actuallly got to know eachother and though he wasen't that polite in the first place it didden't matter cause their like friends now, and i have a bad feeling that grubbs is the one that might be the one who is the sacrifice. This book is my favorite and i think Darren did a wonderfull job on this one.
