Seventeenth birthdays aren't supposed to suck, but mine does. Literally. Before I know what's happened a guy knocks me to the ground and tries to suck out my soul. With a kiss. That's all it takes with his kind. This next part is embarrassing--I thought this guy was my boyfriend. Screw that, I thought he was human, but those creepy, blood red eyes suggest I was mistaken.

This is it, the end of my sucktacularly short life--killed by a creature that's half vampire, half demon, and smokin' hot. Killed by a kiss. It sounds poetic until it happens to you.
The world fades to black, but just as I accept my fate, someone saves me. At least I think he saved me, because I'm still alive. It isn't until much later that I learn what really happened and exactly what it cost me.

GR - Amy H.
Wow! The story line was great, and the concept of the book was something I've never read before. There were so many twists that I couldn't predict anything that happened. I was kept guessing the entire time. Books like this are a rare find, especially when not that many people know about them. So I'm spreading the word! Read this book! You won't regret it! The sequel can't come out soon enough!

I was sucked into this book as soon as I read the first few pages. The amount of detail about the setting and the characters is amazing as well as the length of imagination in this book. There’s enough romance in the story to keep you satisfied…even if it is kind of challenging for it to happen...I can’t really think of any other word for it other than phenomenal. H.M. Ward deserves a freaking award to rival all awards ever given.

One of the best books I have read in some time. The story-line is great. Often I have to read a chapter or so into a book to really get into it, but not this one. It pulled me in right from page one. I can’t wait for the second one to be released later this summer. I LOVED IT!!! I strongly suggest this book to anyone who likes to read. Especially if you like the Twilight and/or H.O.N. (House of Night) series’.

A must read!! Hooked!!! I couldnt put it down until I knew Ivy Taylor's epic story!! You get pulled into her world and feel every turn of event like it's truly happening!! H.M. Ward is a very gifted author and I love how the book is full of her voice; its in no way fake or robotic like some other books. You get the sense of a real person's thoughts from Ivy's world and see how her life turns out!! I advise you to buy this NOW!! You won't regret it!! Im off to re read Demon Kissed!!!!

    Intensely Good

Okay well, that was extremely intense. I was sweating, that's how engrossed in the story I was. This story brings a whole new meaning to soul mate. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about the fight of good & evil-literally. It was jam packed with demons, prophecies, love and loss. Huge cliffhanger at the end! I seriously can't not wait to see what happens next. Exceptional Debut that will leave you gasping for more......

    So unexpected!

I could not put this down! One minute you are so excited for the romance, and the next you are in shock and can't believe how the story just took a swing at your emotions. Great til the surprising climax at the end. Can't wait for the next book!

The Best Out There, A Must Read!!!

What else can i say besides this book is completely AMAZING!!! I have never been so shocked by a book before. Usually, i read the end of a book first, but in this book, i had no desire to. I wanted to be suprised, and suprised i was. I fell in love with this book from page 1. I was never really sure who to trust in this book besides Ivy, but i soon found out that Collin loved Ivy, so i immediantly fell in love with his character. It was hard not to. People talk about how shocking the end was and how dreadful the cliffhanger was, but it wasn't bad at all. I was actually SUPER happy with it! I usually HATE cliffhangers, but i LOVED this one, because it showed promise that would follow in the next book. The "bond" between Ivy and Collin was heart-pounding, and i loved it, even though i never really found out what caused it. Was it because they were in love, or because of the prophecy? It was VERY sad where Collin ended up at the end, but i was EXTREMELY pleased that Ivy was going to save him, because Collin would do the very same thing for her. The chemistry between those 2 characters was bittersweet, but i would have HATED if Ivy fell for anyone else. They were so perfect for each other, and didn't let anything get in the way of them. That is a definition of true soul mates. I can't give this author enough praise, because this knocked my number 1 favorite book of all time, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, out of it's place. I debated on whether or not it was worthy of the number 1 spot, and decided that it was. Demon Kissed and Shiver might be sharing the number 1 spot, though. I am still deciding to this very day. Maybe i should reread Shiver and then decide. Oh, well!! I can't wait for the next book to come out, Curse Of The Valefar or Cursed (i can't figure out which it is, because i have heard of both of these), on August 31,2011. I KNOW it won't dissapoint!!! I LOVE this series, no matter what!!!

    Loved it!

At first the book was kind of cheesy, much like the show HEROS, it seemed like everyone Ivy knew turned out to be supernatural. BUT, the story-line is good! And i got drawn in, and couldn't put the book down :D for a book that only for .99 on the NOOK, it was amazing! Definitely recommend it!

    Simply mesmerizing!

This is one of the rare finds where the story draws you in and refuses to let go. Narrated in such detail, you are taken on an epic journey that will make you feel a part of Ivy Taylor's world, with a vested interest in each character. It takes an extraordinary piece of literature to drive the emotions and senses felt while reading this novel. Demon Kissed is the beginning of an amazing adventure....

Boring, more children's fiction than young adult

Simplistic writing more suitable for 9+ than young adult and little plot with serious plot holes. The plot was so weak and simple and full of contradictions, I've read children's fiction that had more to it. Parts of it made no sense and the characters were one dimensional and not developed. However, what made this unreadable were the constant flashbacks throwing one back and forth with no transitions. At times I wasn't sure whether I was in a flashback or in the story.

    A Must Read!!!

I was immediately drawn into this thrilling, twisting and always surprising read from the very first page. Everything from the color and the font of the cover to the very first page drew me in. The old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" doesn't hold true in this case. Holly Ward wrote an outstanding debut indie book. I was hooked from page one. Filled with turns, drops, and spirals; the book reminded me of a first ride on a roller coaster.

Ivy Taylor's character was dramatic and built layers deep. She struggles with problems most teenagers don't have. She has lost her sister and drowns her sorrows by indulging in random make-out sessions with anonymous boys. She trusts very few and will be forced to question the trust of everyone around her. Her life depends on it. Every character plays an integral role in this book.

Demon Kissed is a classic struggle between good and bad; however, as you read, you will find that things are rarely as black and white as they may seem. Are some things purely destiny or do we have control by the choices we make?

Cursed, the second book in this series, will be release later this summer. I cannot wait.

    Unique Read~! Great Value...

The author invites the reader at the end of "Demon Kissed" to read the first chapter of the sequel, "Cursed," if we "can't wait" to read the next book.

I CAN'T WAIT! There's a reason this book is so popular. Ward's got it all goin' on here: suspense, romantic tension, intrigue throughout, not much not to love in this novel! This is the 5th book I've read with some kind of spin on angelic/demon themes and it is the very best. Tight prose and superb pacing make this an I-can't-put-it-down. Go ahead, I dare you, it was that *fantastic*. I read all but the last three percent (I know,I know, but I fell asleep on the last part and the Kindle hit my face...that happens sometimes). I finally finished the ending today and wOw!

Sophia has a guy she's great friends with that's a lady's man and it's just the way she likes it; "safe." Relationships have been a sore spot in the past and keeping everyone at arms' length really appeals. When Collin tries to get closer, she pulls away. In steps Eric, her lab partner, and he is the perfect foil for the relationship progressing toward intimacy. Soon, Sophia discovers who she really is and more importantly, what her purpose is. The entire novel pokes a dirty stick at trust in relationships, constantly forcing the MC to analyze her decisions at every turn. This alone made the novel a tense, page-turner. The premise was very unique in a sea of "sameness" in this little sub-genre and I was so pleased to try and figure out all the information and how the author tied it together.

I buy the sequel to books that have a series about half the time. Many times I'll read the first in a series but if it's pretty good or mediocre, I won't buy the second. I will be RACING out to buy "Cursed" ASAP. If you like a fast-paced, action-driven novel with an interesting premise, this is the one for you~! People that liked the novel, "The Soulkeepers," will love this.
