Overview

Gabriel Caine stands on the edge of the abyss. A vampire has stolen his soul and if he doesn't get it back soon, his next step will be into Hell. Only the naïvely mysterious Rose can help him retrieve it. Without her, he really will become the devil himself.

Rose Walters has been sent back from the dead to complete one task-save Gabriel Caine. She's drawn to Gabriel on the most basic level, but restoring his soul may cost Rose her life.

Rose has touched the whole of Gabriel, making him yearn for a love he believes he can never have. Her willingness to put her human life on the line for him forces him to bring all three parts of himself-demon, human, and Feri bloodlines, and the strengths of each-into harmony and into the fight that decides their fate.

Great story about love and family!

This is such a cool book, maybe because I absolutely fell in love with the Caine family. A family of paranormal mixbreeds that had their lives shattered with the loss of Gabriel's mother. Estranged by tragedy, this story brings them back to fight a common enemy. Nothing is thicker than blood. Ms. Ashworth did a fabulous job creating a romance between the hero, Gabriel, and heroine, Rose. I promise you will fall in love with them too. Can't wait for the story to continue!!

    Paranormal Spicy Goodness

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, it was the first book in a very long time I actually couldn't wait to get home from the day job to dive back into. Mostly, I know exactly where/how they're going to end - with this, I was on the edge of my seat.

At first, I didn't want to read/think about demons, thinking demon = bad/evil/wrong, but after reading some interviews with the author, who discussed how she sees daimons as more a paranormal creature that can be good OR evil, I thought I'd give it a try. I really liked it, as well as her vision of a world with vampires, were-creature, and fae living among humans.

The author gives the characters engaging voices, good use of humor and location, and I loved her strong, smart (yet appealingly flawed) heroes and heroines.

In the middle of the book it lost a little steam/power for me, despite a really sexy love scene between Rose and Gabriel. At the end, though they do desperately need each other, they battle the villains separately. I think I would have preferred that they take on the baddies while joined together in some way. And I was looking for another love scene at the end *whining.*

That said, I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

    So Much Fun!

I am a devoted paranormal romance fan and this book did not disapoint. Gabriel Caine has returned from a long time self imposed isolation in search of his missing soul. This story has enough heat and excitement to keep you turning pages well past your bedtime. This was my first Christine Ashworth novel but it certainly isn't the last. I am now officially a fan.

"Demon Soul" by Christine Ashworth isn’t run-of-the-mill paranormal. Ashworth has taken the genre and given it refreshingly original treatment. We have Rose Walters, who has made a bit of a mess of her life so far and nearly died, being given a chance to come back so that she can save Gabriel Caine. Gabriel and his brother Justin are suspicious of her at first as they can sense that she is more than human now. So is Gabriel. He and Justin are tribreds, a mixture of human, demon and fae. Throw in Gabriel’s ex, Satine, who has taken something he desperately needs back, and you have a very interesting story as Rose and Gabriel join forces to solve the very dangerous problem that he faces.

It is a gritty story. Rose is no angel and has a history of drug abuse. But she is courageous and likeable and very determined. Through the Caines she learns what family love can be like and that is very heartwarming. All the characters have depth and they are all flawed which makes them all the more human and sympathetic. You get drawn into their conflicts and really care about what happens to them. And it helps that some of them are rather sexy too! The plot is far from predictable in this battle of good versus evil. The book is confidently and persuasively written. It is no problem to suspend your disbelief and accept the paranormal as completely normal. There are more books to come in this series, which is really good news.

    Fun, Mesmerizing, and Sexy

This was one fun read -- I couldn't go to sleep until I finished it! The characters were compelling and I absolutely believed the body (and soul link between Gabriel and Rose. Theirs was an intensely satisfying love in every aspect of the world. The world they lived in was richly drawn out and I wouldn't be surprised to find her graceful werewolves running Venice surreptitiously trying to keep humans unaware of the demons and vampires running amuck. Gabriel Caine's family are tribreds -- human, Feri, and demon -- and accustomed to taking care of themselves but Rose is something much, much more and only she can save Gabriel.
