I loved this story, freaked me out a couple of times but loved it. M.J. is strong and confidant, Steven is likeable although he comes across as a little needy to me sometimes, Gil, sorry he irks me but he does have some redeeming qualities. I like that the police were working with M.J. and not telling her to butt out like so many other books I've read. The mystery of an axe wielding lunatic ghost is interesting and has you guessing until the end. I will definitely be continuing on with this series.

    Couln't put it down!!!!!

Ive read all of the ghoul books in thiss series but this one by far is my all time favorite :) i read it in a day,,,who doesnt love reading about a serial axe murderer haunting a school? Laurie knows how to hook you with her characters and the drama that unfolds with the turning of the page. All in all 5 stars to all the ghoul books and Gilly, mj's bestfriend since childhood

    Nailbiting

The Ghost Hunters Series so-far has been a fantastic series to read. I really enjoyed the first book very much, but this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait til I had the time to start reading again. The characters are so realistic an natural that you can almost believe that they are people she knows. I hope the next book in the series is just as good!

    LOVE HER

I am a HUGE fan of Victoria Laurie! I read her other series on a whim recently and enjoyed them so much I had to get this one too! Her characters are so much fun and make for a very enjoyable read. The plots are very thought out, but fun and funny at the same time. They are easy reads that are truely fantastic. Thank you for these books Victoria and I hope you continue to write more!!

    Even Better Than the First

I looooovvvvveeeddd this book absolutely loved it. I had picked up both the first one and this one a couple months ago and finally got around to reading them. The story is so riveting that I couldn't put it down. All three main characters are just as fun as they were in the first (Doc, too) and it was nice to read a little about Teeko as well. Just finished the third and fourth and now onto the fifth.

    Good, funny read

The mystery plot itself is not boring, but actually keeps you interested the entire - or most of - the time, and it's very funny.

    Well written, dark subject matter

I initially found the story to be entertaining. I really liked the characters too. But ultimately the subject matter was too dark and grisly for me esp. at the end with murdering of children. Others may be fine with the content. For me, this will be the last in the series that I will read

    I Also Recommend:

    An edge-of-your-seat murder mystery

Laurie has an uncanny skill of not only creating characters with pizazz, but also creating an impressive plot line. There were twists and turns in each chapter, and I couldn't put the book down, even keeping me up till 3 a.m. I never suspected the ending, and it was a welcome surprise.

    I Also Recommend:

    Cute and surprising

I'm a rebel, I admit it! I bought this second book in the Ghost Hunter Mystery series first because of a combination of laziness(snatching it off the "New Mystery" shelf at my local Barnes and Noble)and desperation in wanting to read a new series. I've read Ms. Laurie's Psychic Eye series, so I already knew she is a writer who can craft a great plot and interesting characters. MJ, Gilley and Dr. "Delicious" Sable are fun, believable, empathetic, and very engaging characters indeed(not to mention how delicious Stephen Sable really sounds!). I've already bought the first title, and will purchase the third after I finish this review. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed!

    I Also Recommend:

    Enjoyable sequel

A clever follow-up to the first book. Ghost hunters MJ Holliday and company don't back down from a particularly nasty haunting at a private school. This is pure escapisim and an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

    Twice Bought and Twice Read

Again bought it twice and read it twice as well-forgot again. But still it was still a great read and I love the titles she come up with.

A fun series to get into!

Victoria Laurie has done a terrific job with her Ghost Hunter Mystery Series, especially with Book #2 "Demons Are A Ghouls Best Friend" Victoria does an excellent job of blending paranormal with horror, thrill, drama, and just a touch of romance in this very fun read. Fans of paranormal mystery will love this series and all the characters, for they are fun and very interesting. The plots are detailed, but not enough to get the reader confused, so it's easy to become enthralled in what's going on.
With all that's going on in the world today, we could all use a little escapism, and fun books like this provide some!
