School Library Journal

Adult/High School -A fast, fun read. Retired after marrying her demon-slayer partner and having a child, Kate Conner, aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer, moves with her family to a "safe" town to settle down and lead a normal life. Her husband is killed in a car accident and she remarries, has another child, and settles into a happy family life. Of course, when you know about demons and the realities of the dark side, nothing could be that simple. Certainly the cast here is complex. Daughter Allie becomes aware of her legacy when kidnapped. Saved by her mother, the teen now wants to join the hunters. Eddie, Kate's elderly demon-hunting mentor, lives with the family as a sort of adopted grandfather. An irascible sort by nature, he's making more waves than usual as he makes more and more demands to define his place in the household. David Long, an attractive teacher at Allie's school, may or may not actually be Kate's beloved first husband. Stuart Conner, Kate's ambitious second husband, is running for San Diablo County Attorney, blissfully unaware of his wife's alter ego. Now her not quite three-year-old son Timmy's playdates are being interrupted by demons trying to revive a long-imprisoned Mater demon by the name of Andramelech. What's a mom to do? Teenage girls may enjoy a glimpse of what "Buffy" has to look forward to. Serious adventure handled with humor and affection.-Dana Cobern-Kullman, Luther Burbank Middle School, Burbank, CA

This book is such a fun read. Kate is endearing and her struggle

This book is such a fun read. Kate is endearing and her struggle to balance her family and her hunting is something that any working mother can relate to, even if she doesn’t need to carry around a vial of holy water. The plot certainly pushes the story forward and the amount of character development is perfect. Allie is growing up, in more ways than one, and Kate has to accept that it’s inevitable. Stuart’s cluelessness is both cute and frustrating, and the reader will practically beg for Kate to get caught in the act. The ending, like the first two, will leave you wanting more.

    More demon hunting fun....

I really enjoy this series so far. This one was a bit slower at first, but lots of events happened and questions were answered I needed to know once it got going. I love the supportive characters in Kenners series. Eddie is so funny, i wish I had an "adoptive" grandpa like him. In the end however, I liked this book. Like most series books, there is always 1 book that doesn't compete as well as the others...on to the next book!

    Kate Kicks Butt

This is the third in the "Demon Hunting Soccer Mom" series and I have to say it didn't live up to the first one. While this one has its good moments, it is definitely sci-fi. The supernatural events are more elaborate and thus more unbelievable. I did still enjoy the character of Kate and the witty writing. I thought I knew the ending but was pleasantly fooled. While it is a nice progression in the series and I look forward to reading more, start at the beginning and the best of the series "Carpe Demon". Still, a thumbs up for Kenner. Keep them coming!

    Interesting Plot,

This is definitely not a typical cozy, but worth reading for a different approach.Definitely not a typical mom sleuth story.

Fun book for a rainy day

This was a very readable book. Very cute and serious too. Not too much gore but some action too. I'm passing on to my friends.

    Not Quite

The story started out well, but it got bogged down in an average run of the mill plot, and the ending was rather disappointing. It did from time to time hold my interest, but the author failed to follow through and provide more support for her characters. If you just want something to read to pass the time and you have nothing else to do, then this would be good for that.

    An ok read.

I ordered this book online for B&N and to my knowledge it did not say that this was a book in a series. I read it and realized I was missing information that was in ther previous books. The book did an ok job at filling in the gaps, but it was hard to pick this up knowing I was missing information. The book was alright and I enjoyed the characters, but probably would have liked it more if I would have started out with the first book in the series.

    Easy, enjoyable read

Written for young adults, but is enjoyable regardless of age. I enjoyed the soccermom-demon hunter character. I think all of us soccer moms wish we could be so adventurous and exciting.

    Good Beach Read

This book is the perfect compromise for those who love super-natural books but also want something light hearted- along the lines of crusie.

    Fun ride

I don't usually read anything with vampires and such, but I loved the title and cover and so I purchased this book. It was a very fun read, great characters, plot, and flow. I have since read the first two of this series and am anxiously awaiting the next. Keep on writing Ms. Kenner!

    I Also Recommend:

    LOVE Julie Kenner

This was the 3rd in the series that I've read, they seem to be my summer books, and I just LOVE the story. You can relate to the main character, her life - despite the demon hunting. It's a good, fun read.

    Great Summer Read

Our favorite demon-fighting housewife is back and in charge. This is book 3 in the series and Kate is right back where we left her. Trying to juggle her normal life with hunting demons and trying to keep her town and family safe. In this story the strange letters and questions around her first husbands death come back to haunt her. She tries hard to figure out what major demon wants with her town and how to stop him. She also allows her daughter to train for demon hunting (once she finds out about her mother and fathers past). I can't wait to start the next book in this series!
