Meet the Author

Anyone who says this mother-daughter team doesn't mesh has only seen them trying to put out the fire from the stupid wires behind the television that should've been more clearly labeled in the first place.

Alyssa, the A in A&E, has gone from mucking out horse stalls and taping her eyes open during college lectures, to writing novels. When she's not writing, reading, or running down the halls flapping her coat while singing the Batman theme song, she's either dancing or immersed in anime.

Eileen has much more class. Even a degree. Fancy. Mother of three lovably peculiar children-all of which like to point out how short she is. But really, she isn't. They're just freaking giants. Happily married, she enjoys escaping like a bat out of hell-uh, *cough, cough* we meant she enjoys horseback riding at a leisurely speed around the mountains surrounding their Los Angeles home.

Demons at Deadnight is their debut novel, and currently they're eating bon-bons and watching TV-oh, scratch that-they're currently diligently at work on the next epic Divinicus Nex adventure.

(Come on! Who's supposed to proofread this stuff? Heads are gonna roll, people. Seriously. Heads are gonna roll!)

Aurora Lahey moves back to the town she grew up in with her family after she suffers an attack in the city. However, Aurora soon realizes that she may not be any safer when the demons she's been seeing for several years suddenly start attacking her. To keep her safe she teams up with the Hex Boys, a group of mysterious boys who always seem to be around when trouble strikes. Now they have to work together to try to keep Aurora alive, figure out why the demons want her dead, and hopefully learn to trust each other enough to succeed before it's too late. I absolutely adored this book. The story kept my attention to the point where I didn't even want to put the book down. The characters are well developed and enjoyable and their dialogue had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I cannot wait for book two!

I’m not usually a gusher, but I loved-loved-LOVED absolutely everything about this book. There were solid characters, swift pacing, lots of action, and especially, sizzling romance. I’ve never laughed-out-loud so much while reading a book before. I had to contain myself at times, especially while reading in public, because the dialogue and situations that go down in Demons at Deadnight were “that” hilarious. I kept saying to myself, “these characters cannot possibly get stuck in a more, worse situation…” and then they did. Aurora Lahey can’t seem to catch a break. Not only is she starting over in a town she hasn’t lived in for years, demons are popping up left and right and threatening to rip her to pieces. Like hummingbirds to nectar, demons are extremely attracted to Aurora for reasons unknown. We do know however that her ability to see said demons, is unique, a secret that she has kept to herself for a long time. Then we have the Hex boys a.k.a. the Hexy Knights; Blake, Logan, Ayden, Hayden, Matthias, and Tristan, the swoon-worthy boys next door. By day they’re breaking hearts with their gorgeous bods and charming ways, and by night they’re hunting demons to keep the streets of Gossamer Falls safe. Although secrets and hidden motives run amuck, Aurora is forced to team up with the hex boys in order to protect herself and her family from demonic hordes. Our heroine, Aurora is fiery, charismatic, and witty; an overall, awesome package. However, I think the real shining star(s) of this book are the hex boys. Six boys burning bright with huge personalities and hex-appeal (as Blake would say). At one point in the book, Aurora’s father refers to the hex boys as dwarfs with Aurora being their Snow White. I absolutely loved this reference. They may not all be related but the relationships and feelings are strong within the group. Like Snow White & the 7 dwarfs, every hex boy would “take a bullet” for each other, and for their Snow White (Aurora). In order for me to truly love a book I need deep and well-drawn out characters. Demons at Deadnight accomplishes this fantastically. There wasn’t a single character I didn’t love or feel close to. Every character, including each hex boy, had their own set of personality quirks. While admist action and chaos, it was very easy for me keep up with each hex boy because I felt like I came knew them at a deeper and individualistic level. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves YA books with romance, adventure, humor, and paranormalcy. There’s quite a few cliches mixed in but overall Demons at Deadnight is downright enjoyable. I’m going to be eagerly awaiting the sequel so I can get my hex boys fix. Every scene those hexy boys were in was golden. Some favorite quotes (Courtesy of Blake): “Dude, you hit my girl. I have to challenge you to a duel. My team demands satisfaction. “She’s not your girl.” “She could be my girl.” “She’ll never be your girl.” “Why are you trying to hone in on my girl?” “I’m not trying to-” “Why not? What’s wrong with my girl?” “Guess we can’t fight it, babe. Our love was doomed, just like Romeo and Cleopatra. Ayden she’s all yours.” I may be "Team" Hex boys but there's an extra special place in my heart for Blake-only.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE? This is easily one of the greatest books I've ever come across. Aurora is not only a young woman with a good head on her shoulders, she also has an amazing support group: her family. You don't see a lot of heroines with good families, but in this case, the Laheys are amazingly unique and tight-knit. They look out for their own. Aside from Aurora's beautiful family, she has the Hey Boys to deal with, and I love her initial reaction of them. They're a group of hot guys doused in mystery and seduction, but she's immune to them (well except one...). Instead of swooning over their hottie-tottie looks, she believes the worse and fights against the inevitable. And the boys... I love how close knit they are with each other as well. This book just has a lot of amazing bonds between friends and families, and how even with horrid things like demons coming along to kill you for the greater good, one can still have a life of happiness and laughs (thanks Blake). The story flowed, the dialogue was epic with wit and humor, and who doesn't love hunky guys with contrasting personalities and a girl who can actually set a good role model for other quirky girls?

I loved the sense of humor and all the different characters personalities. The book was nonstop action with the perfect youch of romance, which I hope to see more of in book 2.

This book was so hard to put down. Never a slow part to the story, and the characters are realistic and funny! And I loved that Aurora fought the boys at every turn. No lame, weepy teenage girl. Highly recommended!

This book is amazing! This is my first time to write a review because with this book I had to no questions asked. I can't even describe it, everything happened so fast I couldn't put it down. I think I spend all day reading it, and when I finished it I immediately wanted to read the next book and was sad to find there want one yet. Aurora is the main character and I find her just wonderful. She is an independent girl who cares deeply about her family and friends and will do anything to protect them even if she has to hang around the Hex boys. The author did a incredible job writing this story and making it flow really well. The story is basically about Aurora and how she moves back to her old town where she meets several demons and the Hex boys who are just super funny amazing guys who you have to love. There are five of them and each one is different and has a personality all of his own and Aurora ends up with a pretty seriously big crush on one of them. All the while Aurora is battling to keep her family safe from demons and trying to figure out what she is and what powers she has. This is an epic adventure filled with romance, suspense, action, and some paranormal activity which turns out to be one incredible story that you don't want to miss reading.

I have never written a b&n review, but this book was too good not to. It has beaten every other book I've read this year. I can't wait for more from these two authors.

When I finished Demons at Deadnight, I sighed contendedly. Then I sent the authors an email to let them know what I thought. This is what it said, "I just have to tell you, I left off all other reading and read D&D this weekend! The first two things I thought when I finished were Perfect and Jealous. It was the Perfect book. Right amount of everything. Blake was so much fun, all the boys had the right personalities and Ayden and Aurora together Whew! And such a great story. Definitely different. Something sparkling and bright in a world of YA that is absolutely drowning in ANGELS! I cannot read another angel story. (Gloria is fine). And Jealous because I don't think in a million years I could have come up with six guys so gorgeous yet not overpowering the story and not all after the girl and made them mesh so completely as a team and written such a great novel! I cannot wait for the next one to come out!" All that being said, my review will probably suck because when I like a book this much, I can't write anything coherent about it except to just gush. So I just wanted to let you know I LOVED it and I'm so glad I read it this weekend because I felt like I was on vacation and on an escape from my life and that is what reading is supposed to feel like to me-an escape from my reality into someone else's! Thanks for letting me be a teenager again! It was so much fun!" So, that's my review! Alyssa said that's what they love to hear and that's exactly what I love to read! So, there you go! I absolutely cannot wait to read the next in the Divinicus Nex Chronicles!! Happy Reading!

Seriously one of my new favorites! I stayed up till the wee hours to finish it. I laughed, I cheered, I cursed at having to wait for book two. Do yourself a favor-curl up with a Hex Boy and read the book!
