I’m not usually a gusher, but I loved-loved-LOVED absolutely everything about this book. There were solid characters, swift pacing, lots of action, and especially, sizzling romance. I’ve never laughed-out-loud so much while reading a book before. I had to contain myself at times, especially while reading in public, because the dialogue and situations that go down in Demons at Deadnight were “that” hilarious. I kept saying to myself, “these characters cannot possibly get stuck in a more, worse situation…” and then they did.
Aurora Lahey can’t seem to catch a break. Not only is she starting over in a town she hasn’t lived in for years, demons are popping up left and right and threatening to rip her to pieces. Like hummingbirds to nectar, demons are extremely attracted to Aurora for reasons unknown. We do know however that her ability to see said demons, is unique, a secret that she has kept to herself for a long time. Then we have the Hex boys a.k.a. the Hexy Knights; Blake, Logan, Ayden, Hayden, Matthias, and Tristan, the swoon-worthy boys next door. By day they’re breaking hearts with their gorgeous bods and charming ways, and by night they’re hunting demons to keep the streets of Gossamer Falls safe. Although secrets and hidden motives run amuck, Aurora is forced to team up with the hex boys in order to protect herself and her family from demonic hordes.
Our heroine, Aurora is fiery, charismatic, and witty; an overall, awesome package. However, I think the real shining star(s) of this book are the hex boys. Six boys burning bright with huge personalities and hex-appeal (as Blake would say). At one point in the book, Aurora’s father refers to the hex boys as dwarfs with Aurora being their Snow White. I absolutely loved this reference. They may not all be related but the relationships and feelings are strong within the group. Like Snow White & the 7 dwarfs, every hex boy would “take a bullet” for each other, and for their Snow White (Aurora).
In order for me to truly love a book I need deep and well-drawn out characters. Demons at Deadnight accomplishes this fantastically. There wasn’t a single character I didn’t love or feel close to. Every character, including each hex boy, had their own set of personality quirks. While admist action and chaos, it was very easy for me keep up with each hex boy because I felt like I came knew them at a deeper and individualistic level.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves YA books with romance, adventure, humor, and paranormalcy. There’s quite a few cliches mixed in but overall Demons at Deadnight is downright enjoyable. I’m going to be eagerly awaiting the sequel so I can get my hex boys fix. Every scene those hexy boys were in was golden.
Some favorite quotes (Courtesy of Blake):
“Dude, you hit my girl. I have to challenge you to a duel. My team demands satisfaction. “She’s not your girl.” “She could be my girl.” “She’ll never be your girl.” “Why are you trying to hone in on my girl?” “I’m not trying to-” “Why not? What’s wrong with my girl?”
“Guess we can’t fight it, babe. Our love was doomed, just like Romeo and Cleopatra. Ayden she’s all yours.”
I may be "Team" Hex boys but there's an extra special place in my heart for Blake-only.

Great book!
Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. When I finished Demons at Deadnight, I sighed contendedly. Then I sent the authors an email to let them know what I thought. This is what it said,
"I just have to tell you, I left off all other reading and read D&D this weekend! The first two things I thought when I finished were Perfect and Jealous. It was the Perfect book. Right amount of everything. Blake was so much fun, all the boys had the right personalities and Ayden and Aurora together Whew! And such a great story. Definitely different. Something sparkling and bright in a world of YA that is absolutely drowning in ANGELS! I cannot read another angel story. (Gloria is fine). And Jealous because I don't think in a million years I could have come up with six guys so gorgeous yet not overpowering the story and not all after the girl and made them mesh so completely as a team and written such a great novel! I cannot wait for the next one to come out!"
All that being said, my review will probably suck because when I like a book this much, I can't write anything coherent about it except to just gush. So I just wanted to let you know I LOVED it and I'm so glad I read it this weekend because I felt like I was on vacation and on an escape from my life and that is what reading is supposed to feel like to me-an escape from my reality into someone else's! Thanks for letting me be a teenager again! It was so much fun!"
So, that's my review! Alyssa said that's what they love to hear and that's exactly what I love to read! So, there you go! I absolutely cannot wait to read the next in the Divinicus Nex Chronicles!!
Happy Reading!

Seriously one of my new favorites! I stayed up till the wee
hours to finish it. I laughed, I cheered, I cursed at having to wait for book two. Do yourself a favor-curl up with a Hex Boy and read the book!
