From The CriticsReviewer: Michael E. Gewerth, RDH (University of Chicago Medical Center)
Description: This is the second edition of a book that describes the evidence-based research and practical applications in all aspects of dental hygiene. The first edition was published in 1995.
Purpose: The book is used as a guide in decision making and practical application in private practice as well as the clinic and classroom. The authors have met and exceeded their objectives.
Audience: The book is written for students as well as practitioners of dental hygiene. The authors have done a superior job of writing the book and are a creditable source of information.
Features: The graphic illustrations as well as the theory give the student an almost hands-on approach to clinical practice. The easy access and the up-to-date information are strong points in this book. I was impressed with the chapter on local anesthetic — excellent!
Assessment: This book is much needed as the information and laws have changed since 1995. Overall, this is an excellent teaching reference as well as a textbook.
