Overview

The third single from the Juan Maclean, following a split release with the Rapture, was originally contained on the CD-only DFA Compilation #2. Neither "I Robot" nor "Less Than Human" are as club-ready as the plastic disco of "You Can't Have It Both Ways" or the plastic funk of "Give Me Every Little Thing," though the former does combine brainy IDM with uninhibited jacking house. "Less Than Human" is even more IDM-oriented and rich with details, bounding amiably in place, nervous and calming simultaneously. Not as immediate in its effect as the earlier Juan Maclean releases, but it's just as worthy of repeated plays. ~ Andy Kellman
