From The CriticsReviewer: Patricia Wong, MD (Stanford University Medical Center)
Description: There are no secrets in this book as the title suggests. This is meant to be a way to quiz yourself and assess your comprehension of basic dermatology. Dermatology residents preparing for the practice boards may find this book helpful. The format is a series of questions followed by the written explanation/answer. It is not in multiple choice format, which is the way the certifying exam is organized.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare you for the dermatoloogy board exam and to test your knowledge of dermatology. The book is best for first-year dermatology residents.
Audience: The author is a credible authority on the subject matter.
Features: Immediate feedback on the answers is provided and you do not have to waste time looking them up. It may be helpful to have a multiple choice format to prepare for the boards the way they are actually written.
Assessment: I did not learn any "secrets," but the book is good at what it sets out to do. There is not a big difference between the first and second edition. There is some newer information in this book, but there are no major differences.
