Meet the Author

Born in 1875, Zane Grey was raised in Zanesville, Ohio, a town founded by his mother’s family. His passion for the American West was aroused in 1907 when Grey toured the West with Buffalo Jones, a noted hunter and adventurer. Grey published a total of 85 books — popular adventure novels that idealized the Western frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage remains his best-known book. He died in 1939 in California.

I purchased the Large Print version of this book for my father, who loves Zane Grey and he has thoroughly enjoyed it. He is 104 years of age and really enjoys reading.

This was one of the best books by Zane Grey that I've read. I really enjoyed the surprises and action that took place in the town and on the ranch along the American\Mexican borders. I absolutly thought that the romance and risks taken for love and friendship were heart string pullers. No matter what you expect to happen you still get a feeling of shock and sorrow or joy at the outcome of the gun fights and other points of action. One of my favorite things about the writings of Zane Grey is that he makes you feel as though you can see what goes on very vividly in your mind's eye. When you read about someone lurking around or peeking in the window you almost feel that you yourself are the one viewing the person spying in at the characters in the room. If you enjoy stories of love and hate in the old west then I would most definitely recomend this book to you.
