Desires Entwined: Book One

Artist James Bryant has forearm crutches in every color from rainbow for fun to sleek black for business. He even has a pair with more paint splatters than metal. After his family's rejection and abuse from a man he thought loved him, James only just gets through the day by painting. He lives in constant fear that he's not worthy of anything, let alone love.

He truly believes nothing is unobtainable--including James--if he's willing to put in the time and effort.

I really loved this story between artist James Bryant and CEO Seth Burns. The emotions that run through this book will make you laugh as well as cry. There are a myriad of interesting characters throughout the book that help keep the story believable and in real life terms. James Bryant has such a troubling past you see why he is the way he is and scared to take a chance on love. Seth Burns is someone who didn't come from a background such as James'. There is so much depth within this story that all you can do is peel back the layers and enjoy. This is a great m/m story that doesn't just have hot sex in it (and it's hot) but it has realism. I will be looking for more from this author.

This book was so easy to read and become immersed in. Really like the way this author writes and it was the most intensely beautiful proposal one could ever ask for in the real world. One for my favorites list and will re-read again.

James (Jamie) is such an innocent, loving, trusting, loyal person. However, with a past like his, he guards himself and his heart well. Jamie has been betrayed by love before, but has grown so strong despite his past. Jamie's past has shaped many perceptions that he has about people seeing him, rather than his canes. This leads to misunderstandings between him and Seth. O'Riley did an awesome laying the groundwork for the struggle that Seth and Jamie would need to overcome. When James' past collides with his present, Jamie must fight to find the strength to share his past with Seth, a man he is falling for. Seth then helps Jamie realize his self worth. With danger looming closer and closer to Jamie, Seth will stop at nothing to protect Jamie from whomever has it out to hurt the love of his life. The characters in this story were well thought out, developed and made for such a strong cast. Separately, each character had strength, but together, they became this unbreakable force. I really enjoyed this story. While the book had undertones of BDSM, it was more about power exchange than the physical BDSM that so many books contain. The characters were developed well and I thought that O'Riley did an amazing job at not rushing the romance. It had a great overall feel. The mystery was one that I didn't expect in the story and I felt that it really helped to show how close each group of characters were - their friendships, love, trust in each other. I would definitely read more of this author. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. AvidReader

The book is well written and has a goood storyline, but I had a hard time with the way Seth treated James as a submissive. In terms of BDSM it was very mild, but James was immediately one of Seth's "pets". James had previously been in an exceedingly abusive relationship, and the way Seth immediately took control bothered me and I never really got past that. James wasn't all that comfortable in how Seth treated him, as he wasn't 'into' D/s, and was scared of Seth's attitude. The partnership does become more equal later in the book, though, and the author does explain Seth's reasoning/actions. For readers who don't like the submissive/dominant relationships, this might not be the book for them. The D/s doesn't really extend to the bedroom -it's more in how Seth treats James, especially in the first half of the book.

I was really touched by this story. James's is a man with a genetic disability that was made worse through terrible abuse by an ex-lover. He is just trying to live day to day and survive, having given up on love when he meets Seth. Seth is immediately taken by James. He realizes he will have to work hard to win his love. The embark on a journey that deals with tragedy, the past and the present and will need each other to get through it all. They have love and support of many friends along the way to enhance the story. Definitely 5 stars and you might want some tissues on hand.
