The investigation is top rate as Chaz McGee has written a mesmerizing paranormal police procedural

Heaven does not want him and Hell is not calling either. In life Kevin Fahey was a lousy cheating husband and an absentee father; these were his better traits. As a cop he failed to solve most of his cases. As a spirit wandering his town, he believes he is still on earth to earn redemption though he has no earthly idea how.----------

One day the ghost of Alissa Hayes appears and leads him to the corpse of a woman who was positioned in the exact manner of her murder that he solved. Kevin now knows he was so drunk and incompetent he let an innocent young man get sent to prison .Kevin is drawn to the lead detective on the case who shine with a pure light; Maggie Gunn quickly connects the homicide of Alissa to that of Victoria Meeks. Fahey is Maggie's persistent yet invisible companion; he smells evil while she senses it. Maggie figures out who the killer is, but lacks evidence for a conviction. She, as does Fahey, knows he must be taken down because he will torture and slowly kill others. Although Maggie can not sense Fahey's presence, somehow she feels connected to him. He intends to keep her on the right road so a tragedy can be averted.-------------

As a roaming ghost, Fahey is a much better person than he was as a living being. He sees the beauty of nature, the joy in loving relationships of all kinds, and bitterly regrets how he lived his life. He needs to make reparations and is elated to finally have found a way to do so. Fahey feels he is doing a higher calling and embraces this with a fervor he lacked when he breathed. His feelings for Maggie are not quite defined at this time but emit an interesting aura as he obviously cares what happens to her; a first for him. The investigation is top rate as Chaz McGee has written a mesmerizing paranormal police procedural.-------------

    Couldn't put it down.

I don't usually read very fast, but Desolate Angel had me hanging on every word. I couldn't stop reading it until I got to the end. Very well written from a different detective perspective. I think this would make a great idea for a TV show or movie.

    really fun read

Kevin Fahey is an inept cop trying to make good. His biggest problem is that he's dead. The new and old cases together are a good mix. Hope there are more to come.

    Very good!

I saw this book at B&N the other night, and thought I'd take a little read before I bought it. It didn't take long before I was hooked. The story is very well written. The main character's reflections on life and death really make you stop and think about your own life. The story is first rate and you will be flipping pages like crazy to read the ending. I'm so happy that I found this intelligent mystery novel. I'm starting to get very tired of the knitting, sewing, cooking, whatever stories that are passing for mysteries nowadays.

A page turner that you don't want to put down.

A fast moving book that is so hard to put down. Great characters and the story is both exciting and sad. Can't wait for author to write another book. I highly recommend it.

    Desolate Angel

This is Mr. McGee's first book, and I hope there are plenty more where this one came from. I found this book suspenseful, and hard to put down.
Thoroughly enjoyed Desolate Angel, and was disappointed when I finished the book. Hopefully, we will not have to wait long for the next installment.

This book was very boring and wordy. It is very slow. I returned the book the third day. I only made it to chapter 3....

    I Also Recommend:

An Imperfect Cop Becomes a Perfect Avenger

They say some men die and go to Heaven,
while others are doomed to Hell.
But for me, death was an awful lot like life:
    I went absolutely nowhere.

These are Kevin Fahey's words that preface this intriguing mystery. Kevin was clean cop who could have been an exceptional cop but allowed the job and self-pity to drag him into alcoholism and mediocrity. Above all, he was a clean cop, but his partner was not. Kevin's replacement, Maggie Gunn, cames to know this, and she is determined that the truth will come out in spite of his old and her current partner and her superior. Through the course of the novel, Kevin becomes "Her very own, most imperfect but most dedicated guardian angel." While no one welcomed him to his state of limbo, when the ghost of the victim of a cold murder case he'd worked appeared and led him to a body, he realized that he had allowed the real killer to escape, jailed an innocent man, and gave the murderer another opportunity to kill. He senses that righting this wrong will lead to his redemption. This is a well written and plotted novel, drawing the reader into the mystery, including the mystery of Kevin's own death. As the Kevin unravels the clues that point to the real killer, the author allows us to see the clues that lead to Kevin's killer. By the end of the novel, you care very much that Kevin's innocence be proven.
