Overview

The Desperate Times Trilogy takes a hard-hitting look into serious conditions we could encounter in the days, weeks, and months following an economic cataclysm. Jimmy Logan wakes up late on a Friday morning and rushes to work, only to find out that the world is on the brink of disaster. The dollar is in a free-fall and the foreign exchanges have tanked. There is panic in the streets and by the end of the day the shelves will be bare and commerce will have ground to a halt. Jimmy joins up with a group of people led by his employers, Ken and Patty Dahlgren. They have a lake home in northern Minnesota and have had the foresight to stock it with enough provisions to ride the storm out. As conditions deteriorate, the National Guard is called in to uproot the general population and deliver them to relocation camps. Jimmy and his friends find themselves defending what they have in a lawless society where only the strong survive. Desperate Times is powerful fiction, geared to provoke critical thought.

All I can say is "WOW"

This trilogy was great. I especially liked it because I could purchase all three books at once and did not have to wait until another came out. The characters were easy to love or hate. I enjoyed the first two books better than the last.....only reason I gave it a 4.......it started becoming more political than about surviving. But, the first two kept me up late at night.

Wow, Amazing. Makes you really think. I read all three books in about 5 days. I could not put it down. A movie would be amazing.

This book is not believable. The characters are very weak. The characters act irrationally and constantly switch personalities. The story is poorly thought out and often times doesn't make a lot of sense. Parts of the book are interesting and entertaining, but over all it's not good.

    Very entertaining!

I appreciated the story line and enjoyed so many of the characters! Let's hope American never gets this bad!

    Tedious

My main problem with this book is most of the main line characters change personalities frequently and suddenly.
Also, I have a problem with the stupid decisions endlessly repeated. It’s OK to make mistakes but to repeat the same one over and over and over again is insane and to me becomes mind-numbing.
The book does have good sections and the action scenes are done well and the story moves through the plot well enough to keep you reading.
To me the characters are not real or endearing and I can’t recommend it.
