Overview

From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Bernard comes a fun and sexy romance about a sizzling-hot fireman and the one woman who can change his life forever.

Fire Captain Jeb Stone and incredibly successful press secretary Nita Moreno have both been burned by love before. That's why neither of them is looking for more than a few steamy nights of passion.

When circumstances find them stranded on an island together, babysitting a cross-dressing senator and the very pregnant wife of San Gabriel's most famous captain, they allow the sparks they feel to take center stage. But as their feelings grow, can they each allow the other past the barriers both have built to protect their hearts?

Jeb Stone, a captain of the so-called Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel, is on a much-deserved vacation when a coworker asks him to take a side trip to a remote island as a favor. At the same time, Nita Moreno picked the island specifically for its isolation, as she hides with her boss—a senator—to let a scandal blow over. An early storm may bring them together in ways they never expected. VERDICT This novella also provides a glimpse of characters from Bernard's first story in the series (The Fireman Who Loved Me), which will delight regular readers and intrigue newcomers to explore earlier titles. Meet the Author

Jennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to . . . well, any other books. She left big city life for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters. She's no stranger to book success, as she also writes erotic novels under a naughty secret name not to be mentioned at family gatherings.

P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N. — That is exactly what this book is from the first word until the last. This entire series is awesome but this is my absolute favorite. It is a short, quick read that you can knock out in a few hours, but don’t let the length fool you. It is not short on good hard-core emotional romance. The characters are easy to relate to and very well described. I love books about second chance love, but sometimes they can be a little weird when transitioning from the past to present day. That is not a worry you will have with this book. It easily transitions through three years without any hitches or catches. If the characters and second chance love don’t have you hooked, don’t worry, the plot surely will. It is very fun, unique, fresh and humorous. The tone of the book is very warm and fun; however, it also touches on series topics such as miscarriage, divorce, loveless marriages, corrupt politicians and preterm birth. The firemen series by Jennifer Bernard just has this special “something” that is hard to put into words. They catch and hold your attention and leave you begging for more, well actually begging to be transported to San Gabriel FD, ha. They just hook you – hook, line and sinker. I wish all books were this easy and fun to read. If you are looking for a quick read that will warm your heart and leave you smiling this is definitely your book!! I love reading about my "Fireman". Jennifer does a great story. Can't wait for "Four Weddings" to come out. I have it pre-ordered already. I guess I am partial to Fireman, but I thought it was a great book.
