Destined delivers all the romance and action that fans expect as it brings Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series to a deeply satisfying conclusion.
Laurel used to think she was an ordinary girl from Crescent City, California. She never would have believed she was truly a faerie from a realm called Avalon.
Now Laurel must risk her life to save Avalon from destruction by Yuki—a rare and powerful Winter faerie—and troll-hunter Klea. But Laurel won’t have to fight alone; David and Tamani, two boys she loves in different ways, will be by her side, along with her best friend, Chelsea.
Readers of the Need and Graceling series will want to follow Laurel’s story from its beginning in Wings to its heart-stopping end in Destined.

I bought this book yesterday, also the release date, because I have been so in love with the series from the start! It is such a interesting theory of faeries and being a very curious and avid reader of science fiction, it fit perfectly in my genre. This is the fourth and sadly the last enstallment of the Wings series. It was so amazing and I just could not put it down, and when I say that I mean I literally could not. It picks off right where the third book ended, the climax of the novel literally begins around the third chapter and lasts throughout the entire book. We all know most books have a set path that they usually follow, but this is unlike anything I have ever read!! There is very little down time for your mind and imagination to wonder. I honestly felt my heart racing the entire time that I was reading it, and not to mention I was so curious as to what was about to happen on the next page that I tended to excitedly rush through some pages. I want reveal any details because there is just so much to happen that there would be no way except for you to just sit here and read the book through me! So to clarify all of the statements that I have made....if you have been reading this series as faithfully as I have you do not even need to read this review, but if you havent started it yet I would highly recommend spending 10 dollars on it. Words cannot express the genius behind Aprilynn Pike and her rendition of fairytales.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This book is the final one in the Wings series and it was absolutely fantastic!! Almost right from the start we are thrown into the action. Emotions are running high, trolls are running wild, and Avalon is at stake. Laurel is still struggling to make the choice between David and Tamani, but with all of the fairy realm at risk there is not much time to think about that. This book had me on the edge of my seat!! I was completely sucked back into the story and did not want to come out! The characters are still just as great and the story had me pumped up on an adrenaline rush.
The whole situation with Yuki gets very tense and complicated. It's a bit sad at times because you do get to see Yuki's vulnerability. You can't help but feel a bit sorry for her. Chelsea and David are big parts in this book too. I know that they have always played a role in the series, but they really step up in this one. In fact this book is totally David's. Yes Laurel is trying to do what she can to save Avalon and so is Tamani, but David is front and center in this one!! I love David, so it's nice to see him the way he is in this book. I know that is really vague, but I am trying to keep this spoiler free.
Even though this final installment is packed full of action, don't think there isn't still some romance and heart wrenching moments. For me this book was going to break my heart either way. I love both David and Tamani so whoever Laurel would choose to be with would leave me wounded. This is a love triangle done right! I don't typically like love triangles, but some are just done so well that you totally understand them. This is one of those. And as if the heartbreak wasn't enough, Aprilynne Pike also has put a letter at the end of the book that had me aching as my heart constricted in my chest.
I can't really say much about this book with it being the 4th one and all, so I will just tell you how amazing it was. This book was a fantastic conclusion to a fantastic series! It will keep you turning pages until you are finished. The action is incredible, the characters are just as awesome as they have been previously, and of course you need to know the outcome of everything. Will they be able to save Avalon? Who will Laurel choose to be with? Will everyone survive this? This series was so great, and as sad as I am that it is over, I can't say enough how well it was all wrapped up. To me it couldn't have been any better, especially with the letter at the end.

I loved this book, it must have been the best in the seiries! It was great. The final battle for Avalon has come, and everyone, including David and Chelsa have to fight. The main thing to keep in mind though, is that the epilogue is after the authors note! SPOILER ALERT!!! In the end Laurel chooses Tamini, but tells David to look around and notice things, since Chelsa still has a major crush on him. Laurel decides to stay at Avalon, and Chelsa ends up with some random guy and has a baby and David is about to propose to a random girl. Right at the end, David decides to let Laurel give him a potion to make him forget everything. He wont remember any of Laurel, Tam, or even Avalon.

After reading the professional reveiws I was convinced this last book in the Wings series was going to be bad. I thought the start of the book was a little boring but after the first chapter or two the book got really interesting. Pike did a great job ending the story. I thought Laurel, Tam, David and Chelsea all got a happy ending, just not the way you'd expect it for a couple of them!

I'll start off by saying that previous to this book, I was in love with Aprilynne Pike's intriguing and beautifully woven story about a girl who discovers she's a fairy. I read the first three books in one sitting for each, and then proceeded to read them again. There was something magical not just about the story, but the writing, and I love, love, loved it!
However, Destined, which claims to be the "perfect ending" to the series, was the biggest let down I've ever read. As oppose to the other books, this one was not as well written; there were choppy paragraphs and the entire story didn't flow nicely as the others had. Another point was that in this last book, none of the characters are likable. You hate David for being so whiny and sulky for Laurel, and then smug and rude to Tamani when he gets Laurel. You hate Laurel for switching her feelings for the entire book and complaining about almost everything. You hate Chelsea because she's trying to be with David and gets huffy and pathetic when she doesn't get him. And of course you hate Yuki because she's being rude to everyone. Even the Winter Queen makes you cringe with every word she says, not because she is a chilling and brilliant character, but because it is so poorly written and she is way to idiotic a character to even find believable.
Now, in no way does this review affect my view of the other three books in the series. However, be warned, that if you do decide to take up the series, you're in for the biggest letdown of your life.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT PREVOUS BOOKS: David: annoying jerk who steals Laurel from my Tammy (my pet name for Tamani). Chelsea: good cause she can have david while tammy and laurel live in avalon. Shar: epic warrior. Hates Yuki. Yuki: hate her. First she tries to steal my Tammy. Then she takes all the attention by being a stupid winter faerie! Laurel: shes the main charcter. If u dont like her u dont like the books. But sometimes her "pushing Tammy away" thing annoys me. Ryan: hes just there. The Queen: dont like her that much. TAMANI!!!!!: I love this guy!!!!! He rocks! Be with laurel forever! Klea: would be pretty cool if not a total bad guy. Entire faerie system: How dare they make Spring faeries there slaves!!!!!! Free Tammy and all the others! Equal rights! No more winters! (Remember ive only read the first three.) If u couldnt tell before,,,,,,,,,,, im on......... TEAM TAMANI!!!!!!!! ive loved this series. Im totally into romance and fantisy. But only if action is involved or its too twilighty. I would also recamend: (in this order in similarity to Pike's books) 1. MAXIMUM RIDE SERIES 2. FULL MOON SERIES 3. VAMPIRE DIARIES (for older readers i must add) 4. PERCY JACKSON (not as much romance) 5. If u look up those and check related titles im sure ull find more. Hope we all Blossom in are own way! ~Madison

Woow i would of never suspected this sieries to be amazing but like they say "dont judge a book by its cover " and i loved it the way she discribed every thing really captured the stoy and dont get me strated with the ROMANCE!! Girl was it spicey i have to say though that if i was laurel i would've choosen tamani first. Who wouldnt? I just really want another book to come out one where everything goes down hill and it takes every faerie to help so avalon reconizes that every hand is important! Oh dont get get me stared with the movie they should make it right? I would pay to see that who wouldnt? But this definetly my FAVORITE sieries im so gald there is still talented people who devote there time for our satisfactions . My blessings to Aprilynne Pike

Perfect Ending!! I loved this series and this final book was perfect! There was so much action, I would love to see this as a movie (but NOT Miley Cyrus as Laurel!!!). Loved how the series ended but I think Pike left it so the series can continue (I hope she will!!)...
