Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger

Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.

Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Frost's (www.jeanienefrost.com) fourth entry in her "Night Huntress" series—following At Grave's End (2010), also available from Blackstone Audio—begins with a much-needed Parisian vacation for half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire lover, Bones. Suddenly, Cat begins having bizarre and vivid dreams featuring Gregor, a vampire who is so powerful that he can steal Cat away from Bones, if only she dreams her acquiescence. Those who enjoy the spicy relationship between Bones and Cat will be disappointed by their lack of togetherness through most of the novel, but the story involving Gregor and the character of Vlad Tepes will keep them enthralled. Series narrator Tavia Gilbert (www.taviagilbert.com) maintains her usual brisk pace; she lends heat to the spicy parts and effectively renders Bones's anguish over his perceived relationship with Cat. For fans of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse and Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels. I love this series!!! Action packed and good story line

This is one of the best series I've read. The heroine is a butt-kick'n half vamp who works for a paranormal military corp who protects the world from evil vampires. She is in love with her lover/husband who is a vampire who works with her to combat evil forces.

    Wow! Just...WOW!

May I say I just LOVE Cat and Bones? Those 2 make a lively pair! In this book, jealousy and treachery, along with missing memories, tie in to make a compelling storyline to Cat's existence as a half-human, half-Vampire assassin. Some vampire named Gregor wants Cat to believe she's his wife from years ago, but Bones (the husband Cat actually remembers) swears up and down that she's HIS wife. Misunderstandings and mayhem ensue, with a lot of vampire fighting and wars going on in the process. Very gripping story, and this is a fantastic series! LOVED IT!!!

I was on the edge of my seat the whole Time.

There are so many things happening in this book! New challenges for Cat & Bones... Their relationship is absolutely put to the test. The plot is thrilling, moving, exciting, and much more. One of the best vampires series I have read in a very long time.

    Cat & Bones 4

Cat is being haunted in her dreams, a vampire named Gregor claims that he is her husband. Mencheres said Cat was abducted a few weeks when she was 16 before she even met bones and whisked away by this man and tricked her into believing that in the future the man she loved right now, Bones is going to turn her into a cold blooded killer, a whore, eventually causing the deaths of her family. Innocent, naive and infatuated Cat said yes to all of Gregor's plan but then Mencheres got to her in time and hide that memory in the depths of her brain where the only soltion on retrieving it is for her to drink from Gregor. The only way to make that happened is to let the Dreamsnatcher get her in her sleep... Will she let that happened? What will be the consequences if she does?

If you are a fan of this series, you know that Bones is over protective of Cat, one wrong move and sh** hits the fan. I got mad with everyone in this book. Mencheres, for having an agenda (not that I wasn't expecting that, but stil...), Gregor for being such an old school prick and all around d-bag, Bones for being uber protective and Cat for loosing some of her fire at the beginning, why is she letting this man tell her what and what she can't do? But then Justina got kidnapped and Cat becomes... wow, I can't say, you guys have to find out. Book 3 introduces us to the Queen of the Ghouls / Voodoo Queen - Majestic. A new member of Bone's line the ghost Fabian, who they met in Louisiana, and an interesting new interesting info about their culture. Book 3 is definitely different from the other three books, Cat & Bone's lives are getting complicated by the book, their relationship even deeper and the other characters evolving. The tension is overwhelming, the emotions are intense, the dialogues are witty, comedic and suprising, the plot is perfection. Ms. Frost did it again, it kept me guessing even when I reached the ending. What wonderful surprises will I get on the book book? Can someone give me a clue, now that Cat is what she's always meant to be...

    Good, but A let down

I really enjoy the Night Huntress series, but this book seems to be my least favorite so far. The books seemed to be one downward spiral of despair. It seemed to get sader and more depressing, which was upsetting for me, since I felt like it lost a lot of it's witty comebacks and comedic moments. Also, Cat goes through same changes through the book and I feel as if she lost what sort of made her Cat. Bones and Cat go through several changes, which were heartbreaking and seemed to get worst and worst, but since it's Cat and Bones it's so well done and you can't put the book down until you know how it's going to end. At moments, I hated him, which was a first for me, but it's Bones so it doesn't last very long. It was just a very depressing book and when I finally got a moment of happiness the book was done and I wished for happier moments. That being said, if you love the rest of the series, you will enjoy this book and look forward to the next book.

    Great Series

I cant wait for the next one. The lead female seemed to have not as strong a character as she did in the other books where she was more like warrior empowered but it was still a great book and i can't wait to find out what happens next.

The fourth Night Huntress urban fantasy is an exhilarating thriller driven by the paranormal triangle

Half-breed Cat Crawfield looks forward to some Parisian R&R (romance and relationship enhancement) with her purebred vampire husband Bones. However, the best laid plans of mice, men and half vamp Cats often go astray. The master vampire Gregor arrives to claim her as his wife; he insists he had a prior claim to her as her spouse making her a bigamist.

When Cat was a teen, Gregor abducted her with a goal for later the future. However, Mencheres the master vampire took her away from Gregor, locked the master vampire in a special prison, and erased Cat's memory of the incident and this master vampire. Cat is outraged for several reasons but also somewhat fascinated while Bones is reeling as he fears Gregor has a stronger claim and not just with vampire law and Gregor seems obsessed over his assertion.

The fourth Night Huntress urban fantasy is an exhilarating thriller driven by the paranormal triangle (though told through a confused Cat's perspective). The overarching story of Cat and Bones spins brilliantly into a darker drama as the heroine must make several complex decisions with convoluted choices to select from. Another winner from Jeanine Frost, fans of this strong saga will appreciate aptly titled DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE.

I felt like I was missing a few things in this book. I enjoyed the lost past plot but not the break-up with cat and bones. Vlad is amazing and I can't wait to learn more about him! I felt like I was missing something from not reading her other side-series' and I was kinda frustrated. I was also disappointed that Cat's pyrokinetic abilities were borrowed and not her own, but could be interesting for the future of the series. Still a page-turner and a wonderful book!

This installment of Cat and Bone had a lot more angst than usual. Let me just say, Cat and Bones know how to fight. They don't do anything halfway. Besides dealing with Bones, Cat is also having to deal with someone from her past, and he sure knows how to make an entrance.

My favorite part of this book – Vlad! We got to see quite a bit more of him in this book. I see now why he has his own series!
