Overview

Pretty ladies would smile at James when they saw his muscular features and thick dark hair. Often, they had initiated conversations with him. He had always felt comfortable talking to a lady that approached him. And, he liked the excitement of asking them out for the first date. Usually, the ladies said yes. But when an IED blew up his Hummer in Iraq, everything changed. Now he regrets his shame when they see the shiny metal claw that resides where his hand should be. If only he could erase that horrible day in Iraq. Then, one day while feeding the squirrels after his morning jog, James met Liz. Like previous attractive ladies, she approached him and introduced herself. She is young, smart, and sexy. She could have any guy. She doesn’t seem to care whether James has a prosthesis. Why is she different? Does she like James? Is there hope for romance in the life of this wounded soldier?

Meet the Author

Hi,I hope you are enjoying my story. Please let me know how you like (or dislike) it. My email address is: ansleygilmore@gmail.comThank you!I have always lived in my make-believe world. It was the best kept secret, until I started writing, and now everyone knows I'm schizo, ha. Well, hopefully, my imaginary friends will entertain you and bring you some diversion. In my "real" world I like riding motorcycles, snow skiing, snow boarding, sailing boats, flying airplanes and gliders, and most any activity that is outdoors. I wish I had the opportunity to climb Mount Everest, or search for Noah's Ark on Mount Arafat. As you can surmise, I like a good challenge, and writing is certainly that. In the end, my hope is that you enjoy venturing into my make-believe world as we go on adventures around the world, and maybe even into space (hint about one of my adventure books in the making). Finally, I must confess that the most challenging puzzle I found is the human heart. What makes us tick? Why do we do the things we do, sometimes with full conviction, sometimes with hesitation? What makes us happy and sad, sometimes both at the same time? These are questions that I like to broach in my writing. Relationships are complicated, but only because we are complicated. To understand a relationship we must understand the "other" person, and to that end we must understand ourselves first because with all of our differences, we also have much in common. Under standing ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses, is the first step to understanding others.Ansley

I really enjoyed reading this book.this book let me know that you didn't have to be a "whole" person to be a whole person..

I am all for a good romance, but this one is too short to enjoy. The way the author writes makes you think they are in junior high or high school. I would have given this book a one star rating, but decided it deserved a two star rating due to the fact that it is a good concept. It would have earned more stars had characters and story line been more developed.

Good short story (60 pages). Story line with a message of faith.

Very superficial. Apparently the author has a screwed up sense of self and people. This "story" shows how a very judgmental and self centered person might view a person, who isnt the "norm", and their family. Very sorry I wasted my time with this. If you or a loved one is in the military, dont give this story the time of day.

This book was a very good read for being 60 pages. It had me saying "awwww" a lot. Very touching and reading this book teaches everyone that supporting our troops is very important. They sacrifice so much for us that most others don't even think of or care about. Support our troops!

This is a sweet love story. I can not wait for more from this author.

This story is wonderful but needs a whole lot more. Increased character development and overall detail to lengthen the book would go a long way towards making it better. Loosen up the stiff dialog and this one could be a real gem! I just feel like it has the potential to be so much...more. That said, good job on a 60 page happy ending!

This is a good book and very fast read.

It was a cute idea that was badly executed. From the grammar mistakes to the corny dialouge, there was a lot that had me cringing in second-hand embarrassment. It's short, I read it in about twenty minutes, but that was good because it put me out of my misery. The main problem was the dialogue and how fast the story moved without ever developing the charcters. But, like I said, it was a cute idea!

If it was only longer than sixty pages. I did like how both main characters had a very similar problem that brought them together. There were a few gramatical errors but nothing major. In some parts it was a little too sappy though

I felt there could have been a little more to their meetings in the park before suddenly saying they really liked each other after revealing her secret. I really liked the lesson implanted on the last page and gives you a glimpse into God's plan for our relationships.

Short story with a message. Would have been nice if someone without a phyical challenge could have been attacted. Not the best writing.

The concept is good, it just to short for any sort of development between characters. A similiar one that is longer and more developed is "Dancing in the Moonlight" This isn't a bad story, just no long enough for me to fully appreciate the writer's abilities.

This was an amazing short story. It made me cry with the way the author took 2 people that had been in the war and hurt by the nature of crule people.

This person in this novel feeds the squirrels in Central Park on his lunch break. He had lost his arm in Iraq. He never planned this he wanted to retire after 30 years as a soldier. He had met a girl at the bench where he was feeding the squirrels her name was Liz.Liz had a metal prosthesis. Now they are seeing each other and getting to know each other. He asked her to marry him. She had said yes. They got married in Central Park. I enjoyed reading this novel. ShelleyMA
