Barnes & Noble - Tracy E. Hopkins
Given her meteoric rise as a solo star, it's admirable that Beyoncé has reunited with her Destiny's Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams -- perhaps the loyal young diva finds that's three's company and not a crowd. The multi-platinum-selling trio's fifth studio album picks up where their 2001 chartbuster, Survivor, left off with a likable collection of girl-power anthems and smoldering ballads. The difference is that the twenty-something ladies reveal a more mature, sensual side, particularly on songs like the frenetically-paced, marching band inspired first single "Lose My Breath," the gushing "Cater 2 U," and the racy "T-Shirt." Barnes & Noble - Tracy E.
The difference is that the twenty-something ladies reveal a more mature, sensual side, particularly on songs like the frenetically-paced, marching band inspired first single "Lose My Breath," the gushing "Cater 2 U," and the racy "T-Shirt." The latter song, however, tries too hard to be sexy, with Beyoncé unconvincingly moaning à la Miss Jackson for her lover to "keep it right there." Despite that misstep, and the fact that Michelle's cartoon-like vocals still sound out of sync, on the strength of Beyoncé's fiery, trill-running vocals, the ladies stay on track with classic soul-inspired tracks such as "Is She the Reason" and "Free," and the gospel-infused "Through with It." On most of the album, Destiny's Child live up their billing as the new millennium Supremes. That said, Beyoncé will surely match, if not surpass, the solo success of Diana Ross. But for now, consider Destiny's Child's Destiny Fulfilled.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Destiny's Child have never quite seemed like a true group, possibly because Beyoncé Knowles always took the spotlight in the group's hits and videos. When the group went their separate ways in the wake of the blockbuster success of 2001's Survivor, it was easy to assume that the split was permanent, a suspicion that only grew when Beyoncé became a superstar with her 2003 solo debut, Dangerously in Love. As it turns out, she was reluctant to leave the group behind -- an attachment that might have been telegraphed by the fact that her solo album shared a title with a song from Survivor -- because she reunited with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for 2004's Destiny Fulfilled. To put it mildly, this is not quite like Diana Ross returning to the Supremes, nor is it like a New Edition reunion; it is not the reunion of a supergroup, nor is it a case of the sum being greater than the parts. This is a retreat to Destiny's Child's comfortable status quo, where Kelly and Michelle take a backseat, both intentionally and not, to the undeniable star that is Beyoncé. She can seduce and shout, she can sound strong and sexy, and she steals every song on Destiny Fulfilled. Not that Kelly and Michelle are bad singers. They are sweet, classy vocalists, cooing their leads nicely and providing warm harmonies on the choruses, but they're overpowered by the powerhouse of Beyoncé, who sounds larger than life even when she's quiet. Destiny Fulfilled begins with an invigorating opening salvo of two hard-driving dance cuts, "Lose My Breath" and "Soldier," then slides into a series of nine slow-grooving tracks. Throughout it all, the harmonies sound good, and a few cuts stand out -- "Is She the Reason" glides by on a sexy Melba Moore sample, and the nimble "Free" wins points for being livelier than the rest.

    How Dare You

Again after reading everyone elses reviews, i have come up with my own opinion about this album. First off nobody ever said that destiny's child was supposed to be a pop act.Which means that you don't always have to have a catchy fast song about nothing but shaking it up in the club somewhere! This album is flawless and makes each and every other destiny's child album look like trash! The harmonies are so startling and beautiful. The lyrics mean so much more than before. The girls show us just how much they have grown.Beyonce who is usually the best out of the three meets her match with kelly and michelle stepping up to the plate.Michelle on some songs seem out of place but , redeems herself on "Love" and steals the show from...yes beyonce knowles! on "Through With Love " This album sets the standards on what a group truly should sound like. The whole album tells a story that many can relate to and it's so refreshing! So how dare you so- called destiny's child fans cry over not having enough fast songs!Shame on you! This album is a must have!

    Amazing

Personally, I love this Cd! I think it's refreshing to hear the other girls voices not just Beyonce. Don't get me wrong, though, Beyonce is an amazing singer! This Cd has upbeat songs, but also shows the soulfull side of Destiny's Child! It's a great combination and flows amazingly! The songs are beautiful and the cd is amazing!

    Hmm..

I liked the first two tracks, but most of the ones that followed were much to slow. But I loved the first two ones so much, they kind of made up for the slow tracks,

    Love some, hate some.

Some of the songs on this c.d. are absolutly outstanding, and others...well, they sound more like gospel. (Though, I suppose their other c.d.'s are a lot like this one. If you love Destiny's Child, then go ahead and get it.) Even though this wasn't my favorite, I hope they still stay together!

    Destiny Fulfilled

Girl is all right, Loose my breathe was great, soilder was ok, but the rest kinda sucked. There is not even a song dedicated to that girl like they did for the other albums. I suggest getting the survivor cd or the writings on the wall. MAKE THE MUSIC FASTER PLEASE!

    Destiny outcome not so good

I really felt that it was a real waste of time and money with the purchase of the CD. I think it was made really fast without any effort.

    What Has Happened

I'm really surprised that Destiny's Child has come out with a cd like this. There's only one good song on the album. The rest sounded like amature work.

I just got this CD today, because I heard them on 103.7 KISS FM. They really are great singers and inspired me to become a singer besides an actor when I grow older.

    Destiny Is Fulfilled!!

Destiny's Child's CD really shows alot of growth in their vocals and production wise. Since; Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle did their solo projects; it seemed to make this CD outstanding because there's more soul and feeling to the music now. Overall, an classic "DC" masterpiece.

    Texas Pride

This CD proves why DC is one of the greastest girl groups to have ever done it. Most of the songs (with the exception of Lose My Breathe and Solider) are songs that speak about all aspects of love; "the good, the bad, the ups and the downs." I'm proud that the group started in my hometown. These are phenominal women. Thanks for the great music.

    Not bad...

I've been a Destiny's fan from the beginning, but this CD just doesn't do it for me... The tracks seem like they were made overnight...not very good. I wouldn't recommend it. If this was a CD from a beginning group, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but they've established themselves...they can make better stuff than this.

    Wonderful CD

I'm a southern girl who think those ladies are the "Greatest", I mean truly I do think Destiny has been Fulfilled. I think Beyonce', Kelly & Michelle are a wonderful trio and I wish them much more success in the future. I've been a Destiny's Child fan since Survivor.
