Destiny Restored is a gripping tale about a group of Americans in the near future who do something about having their country taken from them. The novel presumes to reach wide, and it succeeds. It is action, mystery, history, social commentary, and romance rolled into one. It is hope grown from hopelessness. The astute reader quickly picks up references to Ayn Rand, Alexis de Toqueville, Cato the Elder, and others, but the truly discerning reader enjoys discovering subtler allusions to Allan Bloom and certain contemporary celebrities. Destiny Restored's timeliness is remarkable, projecting global terrorism and the worsening culture wars as the chief threats to America's survival as we know it. But the epic backdrop doesn't smother the personal interactions. It's a good read.

This is a great novel. Very well-written, with a Tom Clancy-esque feel, it is also easy to read. Political intrique, science fiction, and action and adventure combine to make this an enagaging thriller. It is especially poignant given the events of 9/11. Highly recommended.
