All Music Guide - Joe Viglione
Where else can you hear the Glenn Miller Orchestra battling Procyon Project on the song "In the Mood" with a quick segue into Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedys? Record label president B.P. lets his ideas converge with Effcee once again in a delightful barrage they call Destroy All DJs 2 -- their trademark "non-stop mash-up mix." It's as much a sequel to their first recorded triumph as Kaiju Soshingeki the film Destroy All Monsters! was to the early Godzilla flicks. Cool sound effects fade out "Holiday in Cambodia" and ring in the Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz" -- a program in desperate need of a commercial radio station with the guts to play such fun and inspired musical collages. That classic product from the Chinn/Chapman camp takes on the Mission UK for a truly psychotic blend of the 1975 classic that will have you cranking the volume. There's so much music packed into the 74 minutes and ten seconds that it all does become mind-boggling. Front Line Assembly's industrial rock features Tiffany of all people on Bono's "New Year's Day," taken from the 1999 Cleopatra Records U2 tribute We Will Follow. Running the gamut is an understatement when Tom Jones, Iggy & the Stooges, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, disco queen Andrea True, '60s pop stars the Grass Roots, the MC5, Irene Cara, and others all collide in a good way. The 12-page booklet included opens up into a neat and informative poster. These inventive excursions are perfect additions to any weekend party -- and will get the guests talking.
