Detroit Metal City, Volume 1by Kiminori Wakasugi
R to L (Japanese Style). Soichi Negishi dreamed of moving to Tokyo and starting up a bubblegum pop band, so what's he doing playing in Detroit Metal City, the most scandalous, outrageous and demonic death metal band on the Japanese music scene? Deep down inside, Soichi still dreams of acoustic guitars and trips to Paris, but when the makeup comes on and he transforms into his alter ego, Krauser II, not even the denizens of hell itself are safe from his soul-devouring heavy metal sound.By all accounts, Soichi Negishi is the last person on earth anyone would expect to be the front man for a death metal band: a meek little loser who's still a virgin and wants nothing more than to sing fluffy pop ballads in trendy neighborhoods. Can he reconcile his sensitive inner yearnings with his on-stage persona, Krauser II, the vilest hard rocker in Japanese (and possibly world) history?

This book/series is one of the most creative and funny mangas I've ever read. The characters are endearing and once you start you'll be sucked into a world of heavy metal vs. everything and everyone. Defiantly worth the $13.00 and the most read manga on my shelves. Not recommended for the overly religious, easily insulted or for people who take things too literally.
The story is about a young college graduate living in tokyo, away from his family's home in the countryside, aspiring to be in a pop band. He was offered a deal and was tricked into being in a Heavy demonic black metal band (his worst fears come true). Trying to hide his alter ego "Krauser-san" becomes his biggest struggle alongside dealing with his over sexed and drug addicted manager/president. I find the story entertaining as the main charactar struggles with his alter ego trying to keep his life simple I highly suggest this manga to metalheads and music lovers. I also warn parents to keep young, obsesive, and influencable children from this manga
