Audience: The purpose is to educate readers on appropriate assertiveness skills and communication techniques and discuss what communication problems may occur in the clinical setting.
Features: This book provides many excellent ideas and exercises in the area of assertiveness training, while also discussing clear, concise communication. The author addresses potential problems, such as how to give difficult news or how to deal with criticism and anger in the workplace. The examples are very well done and realistic. In addition, the exercises and examples are excellent and easy to use.
Assessment: This is a well-written book, easy to use, and a great resource for healthcare workers. I highly recommend it and think managers could use it with their employees and with new graduates. It would also be helpful to nursing students as they navigate the healthcare setting.
