Developing the Leader
Within You
is Dr. Maxwell’s first and most enduring leadership book, having sold more than one million copies. In this Christian Leaders Series edition of this Maxwell classic, you will discover the biblical foundation for leadership that John Maxwell has used as a pastor and business leader for more than forty years. These same principles and practices are available for everyday leaders in every walk of life. It is a lofty calling to lead a group—a family, a church, a nonprofi t, a business—and the timeless principles in this book will bring positive change in your life and in the lives of those around you.

You will learn:

The True Definition of Leader. “Leadership is influence.
That’s it. Nothing more; nothing less.”

The Traits of Leadership. “Leadership is not an exclusive club for those who were ‘born with it.’ The traits that are the raw materials of leadership can be acquired. Link them up with desire, and nothing can keep you from becoming a leader.”

The Difference Between Management and Leadership. “Making sure the work is done by others is the accomplishment of a manager. Inspiring others to do better work is the accomplishment of a leader.”

God has called every believer to influence others, to be salt and light. Developing the Leader
Within You
will equip you to improve your leadership and inspire others.

    Excellent

I am doing this book with a group of people who are in the same business as I and we have trainer guiding us through each chapter. There is so much GOOD material that I'm glad we are using it as a training tool rather than just reading it. However, for anyone without a group to share with, make sure you have a highlighter handy as you read! Enjoy, I am!

    Covers All the Basics

If you are looking for a clearly written book on the basics of leadership, you need to look no further. It is clearly and engagingly written. John Maxwell uses plenty of illustrations to bring his points home. Our church is using this book to train our volunteer leadership.

    Encouraged by my Elder's Vision

My life shall touch a dozen lives of the things I've read and learned and before this is done. To leave countless marks of good or ill, For others to achieve this great thrill. To know all of this gives off a mature feel. To recieve, after one believes, you can achieve. And the will to care able you to want to share. This, the wish I always wished. And, prayer I always pray, Lord, may my life help others lives. Special thanks to: Minister/Elder Leroy Butler, Jr. Of the: Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ Who saw a 'vision' and a need and decided to share. Your friend/Bren Until the End Peace! 6/8/06

I was lucky. I did not only read John's book, but also experienced working with him, on many occasion. Leadership can, and is, unfortunately, ripped into so may unnecessary, no sense making "smart topics" or - it can just so easy be defined, as John does. For me, he is the only person I'd ever met, who not only can clear , yet short, define "Leader", but he is the Leader himself.
Suggestion, Read the book anyway, even if you have no ambition to be(come) a leader. After reading this book, you may as well be inspired to change your self-evaluation and believe, you, too, can be a leader.
    Who knows. Just read it!

And if you are a "leader", or at least think you are, but haven't read this book, I can assure you, you aren't a leader. ;-)
