My girls love this book and have read it twice each. They got the lesson but liked the fact that Dewberry didn't get into too much trouble. They also particularly enjoyed the magic of this, for example the fairy gifts and wands. I like that this book makes my girls want to read more.

The personalities of the characters are also becoming more complex and interesting. Dewberry is reckless and determined but not so much that she forgets to be remorseful in the latter part of the story. And she demonstrates that she can learn a valuable lesson. The magical parts of this fairy tale captured our imaginations but the serious parts are what we are going to remember the most.
