    I Also Recommend:

The one I carry in my bag

I have three or four other translations, some of which are quite good, but this is the one I carry in my bag -- both for the clarity of the translation and the handy size.

    beautifully simple translation

i loved this translation. i'm not buddhist, and some aspects of buddhism have always seemed a bit foreign to me, but this translation of the dharmapada is very enlightening. i don't know how this sounds in the original pali, but in english it makes for delightfully meaningful poetry.
