    Important & Worthwhile

Diabetes runs in my family, so all the media exposure about rising rates of diabetes and the American tendency to obesity is really big news in my house. I've always known about how diabetes raises the risk of blindness, stroke and amputation. Still, this book pulls it all together. The history, the facts, and his (Dr. Borts') plan for stopping/preventing diabetes all work together to keep you reading a book that most would assume is really dry. You might think that you're thin and in good health and all, and that this book is completely unnecessary (and let's hope you're right!), but the stuff he talks about in here is 'hella' scary. I guess he's right -- the way we live now puts us all at risk. If you want to minimize your risk, read this.
