Meet the Author


Jennifer Gregg, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and associate professor in the Department of Psychology at San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. She completed her PhD at the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2004. She has conducted research, written, and trained practitioners on the application of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to individuals with chronic and terminal illness. She is a peer-reviewed ACT trainer, and a coauthor ofThe Diabetes Lifestyle Book,a self-help book applying ACT principles to the management of type 2 diabetes.

Glenn M. Callaghan, PhD, is associate professor of psychology at San Jose State University and a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and Western Psychological Association. She is an internationally recognized expert in functional analytic psychotherapy and functional assessment methodology.


Steven C. Hayes is Nevada Foundation Professor and Director of Clinical Training at the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada. An author of 38 books and over 540 scientific articles, his career has focused on an analysis of the nature of human language and cognition and the application of this to the understanding and alleviation of human suffering and promotion of human prosperity. Among other associations, Dr. Hayes has been President of Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. His work has been recognized by several awards including the Impact of Science on Application Award from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy.
