Overview

A child born today is estimated to have a one-in-three chance of developing diabetes; for Latinos, the risk is closer to one in two. Written for the millions of Latinos who have-or who are at risk for-diabetes and its complications, Diabetes? No Problema! presents everything you need to understand and manage the condition. An invaluable resource, it offers both the inspiring stories of those who have dealt with their diabetes head-on, as well as the most up-to-date information on such topics as:

The myths and truths about insulin use

Dietary modifications that will help lower blood sugar levels

How to minimize emotional stress with everyday tips

How to avoid common traps and pitfalls

Safe and effective ways to exercise both your body and your brain

"Explains diabetes in a way that anyone raised in a Latino household can relate to.... Reading this book and applying its wisdom will bring us one step closer to a long and healthy life." -Manny Hernandez, president of the Diabetes Hands Foundation

    Loved this book...

I absolutely loved reading this book, just picked it up at the library and since I had to return it, I want to buy a hard and soft copy.
I am Mexican-American, and I am pre-diabetic and I have a daughter that is a juvenile diabetic...aye caramba!, what can I say it runs in the family! Refreshingly the writer really understands what we may suffer, from a cultural standpoint; our foods, our beliefs, our habits, etc. and he puts it in a very confident perspective and gives clear but educated advice and instruction of what will help us change to be healthier, better food choice, positive mind set and habits. He includes some great stories that other Hispanic diabetics share about their success, challenges and treatment in diabetes. I finished this book feeling very good about me, my culture, and my confidence to care for my family's diabetes!! Lastly very easy to read and well written!!
