Overview

Most doctors consider diabetes a one-way street—once you have it, your only option is to manage the symptoms with a restricted diet, close monitoring of blood sugar, and expensive medications. Pharmacist Suzy Cohen shows that diabetes can be treated instead through safe, natural means, like food and vitamins, rather than strictly relying on prescription drugs. She shifts the focus away from glucose management to a whole body approach, using supplements, minerals, and dietary changes to lose weight, repair cell damage, improve insulin function, and reduce the side effects from prescription drugs, many of which rob nutrients from the body and cause additional symptoms.

This five-step program uses natural alternatives, such as drinking nutrition-packed green drinks, adding vitamin D and anti-inflammatory supplements, increasing fiber intake, and including minerals in the diet to help restore the body's own supply of insulin. Diabetes without Drugs explains how patients can protect their heart, kidneys, eyesight, and limbs from the damage often caused by diabetes and shows the impact that the right foods and the right supplements can make in reducing blood sugar levels, aiding weight loss, and restoring vibrant health to everyone with diabetes.

    Highly Recommended

I ordered this book for a friend who has diabetes. I started reading this book and could not put it down. I am a healthy eater and thought I knew by stuff about nutrition but this book has taught me so much more. This book is good for anyone, even if you are not diabetic, you will learn a lot about what you are really eating, and what not to eat!!!!! This book is full of great info and I highly recommend it to everyone!!! I will never touch a piece of white bread again, or refined sugar, they will kill you. I have also added some different teas and some new spices to my diet.

    You can never learn enough!!

I recently was told I am pre-diabetic and I wanted to get a "headstart" on a condition that has robbed my family of the people we love. After losing my brother at 56 because of it. This book as gave me options, insight, as well as education. I will be using this book for a very long time...

    Check it out

While I don't agree with all suggestions in this book, 90% of it is great. If you only implement half of the suggestions your health will improve.

    Highly Recommended

This Text presents a different approach to the tradional treatments for Diabetes. It is thought provoking and offers an outlook of a broad spectrum modality of better understanding and interesting plausible treatments directed at lifestyles and the person as an entity and not a condition.
