From The CriticsReviewer: Maryellyn Gilfeather, MD (University of Utah School of Medicine)
Description: This third edition of Grainger and Allison's comprehensive three-volume text covering all aspects of diagnostic radiology and related fields represents the current best radiology practice. This edition is a reassessment and amended version of the 1991 edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a comprehensive and current resource for the vast field of diagnostic radiology. With the many radiology subspecialties, this book is necessary as a complete reference covering both well established standards of practice as well as cutting edge technology. The more than 150 contributing authors have combined their vast knowledge and expertise to create this comprehensive generalist textbook.
Audience: This book is written for the practicing radiologist as a single source of current information covering the entire scope of diagnostic radiology. For radiology residents, this single text could replace the many subspecialty texts required for each rotation. Each contributing author is well published and considered a top authority in the field.
Features: The text is well illustrated with high quality images. Each chapter has been carefully and extensively referenced, including references to classic as well as recent work. One unique feature of this text is that each chapter is bar coded, enabling the reader to access a much larger image bank available separately on CD-ROM. The CD-ROM contains over 20,000 high quality images, allowing the reader to see many examples of pathology by different imaging modalities.
Assessment: This outstanding textbook thoroughly covers the enormous scope of diagnostic radiology and its related fields. It would be the single best investment for a practicing general radiologist or a radiology resident, as it is a complete and invaluable resource for diagnostic radiology.
