DIARIES OF A DEAD WOMAN by Alicia Rice tells the story of Arista, a young and successful woman whose life was going in a positive direction until she got back with her high school sweetheart, Scott. Their reunion takes their lives down a path that neither one was expecting. A path laced with lies, betrayal and deceit. Arista discovers that her life is not what it seems, but by that time, it's a little too late. Will her choices and actions cost her more than she's willing to pay? Can love live after death? Does the diary hold the key? I found this novel to be okay. There were numerous errors and for Arista to be such a smart and successful woman, she was really dumb. Alicia tackles several topics in this rather short novel, maybe too many. I would recommend DIARIES OF A DEAD WOMAN to anyone that is into the afterlife.
In my opinion this book is a good read for a teenager who wants to read a fictional novel for the first time. I wasn't impressed with the storyline or the main characters, Arista and Scott, as each of their personalities weren¿t provided in much detail. I really had no connection with the main characters at all. As far as the storyline goes, for example, the details of the kidnapping and torture of Arista were believable to a certain degree but I just couldn't really relate to the fact that the reasoning as to why it came to be was due to the fact a friend and co-worker of Arista wanted to have her husband, Scott, set up to be beaten and ultimately killed because Scott didn¿t want her ¿ that was really just too juvenile for me. Also, just about half of the people Arista went to high school with worked at her job or these individuals held key roles within the local police department of a major city. Alittle bit unrealistic to me. As I stated before, it's a good book for a teenager to read but an adult that's in their late 20's, 30's, 40's, etc. will probably not think this is a MUST READ type of novel.
Despite its numerous grammatical and punctuation errors, I recommend Diaries of A Dead Woman to all who believe in life changing supernatural occurrences. For me, it started off slow, but ended with a bang when Scott Mendley¿s spirit felt compelled to appear to his wife, Arista, with a warning to repent before she died. Needless to say, she died shortly thereafter and was reunited with her husband. I must admit, I was initially clueless in regards to the theme of this novel. Now, I understand that throughout the book, I was being shown how selfish decisions can negatively alter one¿s life path. This book will minister to those individuals who are seeking clear answers as to why they are suffering. Your life was designed for a positive purpose therefore, wrong doings will not be tolerated is the overall message contained within this book. Had I understood the book¿s purpose in the beginning, I would have appreciated its contents even more.
