Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Audio
When prosecutor Daphne Montgomery's son, Ford, is kidnapped, she suspects the family of the killer she has just sent to jail after a high-profile trial. As the police look for her son, she gets professional and personal support from her new lover, FBI special agent Joseph Carter. But it gradually becomes clear that the kidnapping is not a result of anything she's done at her present job. Instead, it's connected to her tragic and painful past. Marguerite Gavin does an exceptional job of reading this book. She superbly captures the nuances of a deaf character's speech and Daphne's Southern accent without sacrificing clarity. VERDICT Rose's (No One Left To Tell) fast-paced tale of surprises and suspense is highly recommended for all thriller/mystery collections. Kirkus Reviews
The latest from Rose (No One Left to Tell, 2012, etc.) opens with a prologue in which we find a kidnap victim waking up to his dire situation, and within the first few pages, we know not only whodunit, but also why. The suspense really begins when we meet the victim's mother, Daphne Montgomery, the prosecutor in a high-profile murder case. Questions are raised about this intrepid woman's past, and the continuing revelations of her traumatic story grip the reader for the length of the book. She remembers happiness for the first eight years of her life, but then it all came tumbling down when she was abducted by a stranger who was not actually a stranger. This abduction, her escape and the continuing developments comprise a complex journey, and along the way, we glimpse the traumas in the lives of many of the other characters: the losses, the abuses, the angers, resentments and sheer pain that motivate some people to acts of vengeance, others to acts of love. Interspersed with scenes of horror and cruelty, sometimes graphic, sometimes implied, are scenes of love and tenderness. The book is filled with a multitude of stories, and the author handles the interconnected segments with skill. The loving and wise will find relief and redemption, the loving but angry will move from one tragedy to another. In the end, Daphne is able to use what she has learned to influence a few characters in a positive way.

Did You Miss Me? By Karen Rose is another riveting story that will keep you on your toes.

Daphne Montgomery, Baltimore prosecutor is handling the case of her career. She barely has the conviction on the books when she finds out her only son has been kidnapped. Daphne thinks it has to be connected to the case she just closed since the family of the convicted has made numerous threats to her and her family. Coming to her aide is FBI special agent Joseph Carter.

Joseph Carter has had his eyes on Daphne for months. His first sighting of her is imbedded in his mind. But Daphne needs his FBI skills to bring her son home safely. What started out looking as being connected to her most recent case turns out to be related to a tragedy in Daphne’s youth.

Once they get Daphne’s son back alive the danger still pulls them into the web of a mad man.

As Daphne and Joseph unravel the secrets of the past, the killer is dragging them closer to a final confrontation.
Even though the danger is around them, Daphne and Joseph give into their desires. But will their new pledged feelings be able to survive a madman bent on revenge?

Did You Miss Me? Is another exceptional book by Karen Rose. It keeps you guessing and has you wanting more. Her books are a must read. I am eager to get my hands on the next book.

    Disliked this novel.

This book was so awful that I could not finish it. I stuck with it as long as I could. Poorly written and lots of offensive language.

    Addicted to this series

This book was Karen Rose's best book yet. The plot twists and the final conclusion shocked me. I love how Rose develops her characters from book to book. I am totally addicted to this series. I am about to reread one of the books from the series to remind me about one of the prominent characters in this book. The only complaint I have is the time between books. I know that the time Ms. Rose takes to finish her books is what makes them such excellent page turners but I feel like I'm being deprived in the interim. Congratulations to Ms. Rose for another great novel and brick in her road to literary greatness!

I usually enjoy Karen Rose books, however, this one was absolutely awful. If you want a synopsis, read other reviews. If you are interested to know what other readers think: This is overly long & I hate any books that include almost 75% of the dialogue being internal. The characters in this books spend more time talking to themselves... a very lazy way to explain a storyline. Horrible... pass it by.

    I especially like her writing

I enjoy suspence and she provides it. I also enjoy that so many of her books have characters that repeat but it is not necessary to read one in order to enjoy the others. They are not coontinuing stories.

    Pokemon Universe: Prolouge

Hey! This is Firework! I will be starting a new fanfic today! I would like to thank SD for letting me use the idea about the Rainbow Guild, and whoever made up the Rainbow Guild! I really hope you like it!)))
In a cave on a mountian, a female Latias lays three eggs. She nudges them, willing them to hatch. After a minute, one breaks through the shell. She sighs in relief as another breaks through it's egg. She waits hopefully for the next hatchling, but after about five minutes, she sighs. She curls around the egg and her newborns and closes her eyes...
***
After the night, she is awoken by a shaking of the egg. She looks down at it hopefully, and gasps in relief when the third finaly breaks through it's shell. She looks at it, the smallesed one. She looks at the other Latias, one is a Male, which she names Eric, the other Joe, and the newest she names Ariana. "You will do great things..." she says, curling around her three offsprings "Great things..."

Red to moone and then the story

I suck at explaining, sorry, could you please use an internet? And I love it but i think that you are basing your logic off of the movie "pokemon heros:latios and latias" and no legendary pokemon has any gender which means that they couldn't breed, thank wtfp for that little bit of info, but besides that i think that your story is awesome, and thank you for reading if you did

    Synopsis:
New York Times best-selling author Karen Rose is back with her 14th pulse-pounding thriller.
Best be nimble, best be quick, I’m right here and you’re my pick.…
Baltimore prosecutor Daphne Montgomery pulled herself out of a damaged past to build a solid life for herself and her son. But after she helps convict a killer, her confidence is shattered once again by the news that her son has been kidnapped.
Daphne believes it’s connected to the recent high-profile trial, and at first FBI special agent Joseph Carter agrees. But together they find the reality even more troubling, and it runs deeper than Daphne fears. With her son’s life in jeopardy, she must unlock a dreadful secret about her past and confront a truth that will change everything for those closest to her—and, if she survives, threaten the lives of everyone she loves.

    My Review:
It seems that I cannot get enough of Karen Rose, as I have read more of her books in the last few months, than I have read of any author total, except maybe Lisa Gardner and Sherryl Woods (but that's where my roots come from!) I believe Karen Rose has expertly perfected her craft of writing romantic suspense, and there's no author like her! Sometimes I find that the further into a series that I go, the more boring and less interesting the books get, however, that is SOOOO not the case with these two series sets that blend together, The Romantic Suspense Series and The Baltimore series! It actually seems to be the exact opposite, the deeper I get, the more I have to have, the more I want to read, the better the stories become!

As I've mentioned on the reviews of the other books in this set of series, the Narrator, Marguerite Gavin is a phenomenal narrator. She is at the top of her game when it comes to reading Did You Miss Me? and I couldn't imagine listening to another narrator for these books! I can't say enough good things about her reading and technique!

Unlike many of the early Romantic Suspense books, the Baltimore series has been following the same set of characters, that I have absolutely fallen in love with! We've met Paige and Grayson, Lucy and J.D., Stevie and Clay, and now we learn more about Daphne, Ford, and Joseph! They are all so unique and just perfect characters, especially for the story!

Rose has perfectly woven many plots and twists into this story that will absolutely keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book (all 544 pages, if you're reading, and all 20 hours if you're listening!) I think that this is the only author that can successfully write such long novels, that doesn't intimidate me away from reading them, nor do they keep me wondering how much longer! I just keep listening with peaked interest throughout the finale!

I absolutely loved this book and I think that I find that each book is my new favorite, upon completing another Karen Rose novel! I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone that will listen to me and hope that you all find as much enjoyment as I have out of Karen Rose's books, especially Did You Miss Me?

    Would I recomment this book?
Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt! READ THIS BOOK...This whole series!!

    Love Karen Rose!

As always, Karen Rose's characters come to life with her writing. I love reading about them. Her story line was well developed. She always finds a twist or connection that requires you to pay attention to every word. That being said, this was not one of my favorite books of hers, just my opinion. I will still reread it so that I can catch every detail. There was a lot of inner monologue used to develop the plot line. In this case Karen Rose can get away with that due to the nature of her main characters and the others that she put a lot of focus on. I prefer more interaction between characters. Still a good read and continuation of her series of characters.
