Overview

In this alpha-driven romance perfect for fans of Vi Keeland and S.L. Jennings, the price of one woman's passion is everything she holds dear

Not everything dangerous is bad.

From the moment Angelina laid eyes on him, she fell into a fantasy. Mysterious, foreign, gorgeous, Haithem offered her what she needed most—a chance to feel again.

But Haithem is much more than he appears to be. He lives in a world of danger where everything comes at a price.

For Angelina, that price is her future.

He's ensured the life she's left behind is in tatters. Made her family believe she's dead. He talks about protecting her, about keeping her safe, but she can't distinguish his truth from his lies. She can't separate her pleasure from his betrayal.

Haithem warned her. He told her he'd make her heart race, her body come alive, and her most primal needs rush to the surface. His for the taking.

He didn't say she'd come to love the devil who's destroying her, even as he keeps her prisoner.

This one gave me a pause. I wasn't sure if I was enjoying it or not but since I receive this as an ARC for review I kept going and I am so glad I did because once it really took off, IT REALLY TOOK OFF. There are so many twists and turns you could get whiplash if you are not careful. Angelina has not had it easy and her story finally comes out slowly and Haithem is tall, dark, and mysterious and DANGEROUS in all ways that should have made her run from him and she did but she came back, or really slipped and fell into the lifeboat and was stuck at sea with him. This story unfolded slowly and carefully, piece by piece and was not a disappointment. I now am looking forward to finding out what happens next.

This book had me on the edge all the way through. Angelina is young and a bit naive but when she set eyes on Haithem she knew she was in trouble. Just one look at him and the sound of his voice from across the room set her body on fire. Haithem is this mysterious man pretty much the entire book. That is what made me keep reading and wanting to know exactly who he was and what he was hiding. Being held captive on a yacht, she thinks he's dangerous, he thinks she's hiding things from him on who she really is. Haithem thinks everyone is against him, and he's partially right or so Amber makes you think. These two characters were perfect for one another and I cannot see where their stories go from here. I did not get enough of them. Will she choose to stay or go home? Can she live without him for the amount of time he needs? Is what they have really love? Secrets, betrayal, lies you get it all and Amber knows how to keep you engrossed from page one all the way to the end. I NEED more.

OMG, I LOVED this book; it has everything I love in a good romantic suspense. Angelina has always tried to be the perfect daughter to her parents. She has catered to their every whim growing up but now it is her chance to get a hold on her life. If she can just get this job at the magazine then she can finally move out of her parent’s house and have her freedom she so desperately seeks. Everything is going according to plans until this gorgeous man walks into the local coffee shop and changes her life forever. Haithem is on a mission to destroy everyone who stole his family from him. He has come so far and will let nothing get in his way. That is until he meets the fiery Angelina. After a couple of encounters Haithem decides he must have Angelina, even if it is just for the night. I don’t want to really give anymore of the story away so I will stop here. You really need all the elements of surprise this book offers and I can’t do the review justice without spoiling it for those of you who have not read it. So let me just conclude with YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK! It is so freaking awesome and I can’t wait for the next installment from the author. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

It’s no secret that I love DARK ROMANCES. I love the twisted characters, the complex plots, and the taboo subject matters. These type of books step out of the cookie cutter formula in the romance genre and give the baddies their own opportunity of finding love in their ugly, harsh world. When I read the synopsis for Didn’t I Warn You by Amber Bardan, I was under the impression that this book was going to fall in the Dark Romance / Dark Thriller category. Sadly to say I was let down in my expectations. It was not a Dark Romance. What genre would I put this book in? I am not sure. It does have a bit of suspense and mystery but it also has a bit of the cookie cutter formula. It ended on a very mild cliffhanger that may leave some readers wanting more. Quiyr honestly I am not sure I want more because I had trouble connecting with the characters. The plot and the dark secret was not enough to keep me dying for more. When I first met Angelina in the book, my impression was that she was like Anastasia Steele. In many ways she was. She was young, naive, and innocent. Her back story is what made her unique. At times she came across as desperate and immature, while other times she came across as a strong willed woman. In the beginning Haithem appeared to be this dark, mysterious man with a very dark background. He reminded me of other very bad, dark men that we have encountered in other books. As his character began to unfold, he remained mysterious but not so dark. He wasn’t overly domineering or as demanding as I hoped he would be. When his secrets were revealed I was disappointed. The affair between Angelina and Haithem was passionate and emotional. It was the real glue that held this book together. I liked their interactions with one another. I loved how they didn’t shy away from their emotions even though there was a huge secretive wall between them. Overall, Didn’t I Warn You by Amber Bardan was well written and delivered an interesting story that most readers will enjoy. Those looking for a dark romance may be a bit disappointed.

Didn't I Warn You,  Amber Bardan Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance *This  is book one, with book two due later this year. I’m assuming its just the two parts. I do wish authors would tell readers how many parts make up the whole story. I’m so cautious now after having got caught in the Crossfire  Trilogy fiasco  where the day the final novel, book three, was released so was the news that it had been changed to a five book story. I returned book three, didn’t want to wait unspecified time and pay unspecified sums for the next two books! * And that’s my rant over ;-) So here we have a story that kept me guessing, it seems Haithem is hot, delicious and dangerous. Just what had he done, just what had poor Angelina got herself mixed up in? What was her history? Its clear there’s a lot about her we don’t know that affect the way she is now. who is Josh? And what does he mean to her? Its all questions, questions, questions and each time we get hints at the answer of one it feels like it paves the way for two more. Great fun, I like being kept guessing. Loved Angelina, but I wasn’t totally convinced of her actions. The magazine interview – would anyone really make up that on the fly? And expect to be able to do it when she knows nothing except the person’s name? How did she expect to be able to contact him? She got lucky in a way, or maybe unlucky....She’s definitely a mixed up girl, haunted by past events, trying to find herself. Then she meets Haithem, he paves the way forward for a new direction. Haithem, Mr deep, dark and delicious....he smoulders with sensuality, drips sex just from his voice. Angelina goes weak at the knees when he speaks, but no – I can’t bring myself to use phrases like Pantie wetting, Pantie melting, I hate them! Ladies wear knickers, not panties, that sounds so mealy mouthed and twee....( and men wear trousers not pants!!) and who really carries around spare knickers all the time? I hate this constant thing where every little sound or gesture makes ladies wet...I hope I don’t have to sit where they’ve been sitting :-) Anyway, damp knickers aside, he’s suspicious of Angelina turning up where he is, three times in one day, so gets his partner Karim to invite her to the yacht, where they plan to see what she’s up to.  They’re convinced she’s a spy, so she thinks now is not a good time to tell him about the planned magazine expose, light hearted though it might have been! They have a few words and...somehow she ends up on the yacht once they’re at sea. She must be the most accident person going. When they find her of course they don’t believe it was an accident, so they’re even more convinced she’s hiding something. Its odd though how quickly Angelina and Haithem go in to some kind of flirting, semi sexual relationship, and yet both convinced the other is up to something and don’t trust them. I enjoyed the way the story slowly revealed what was going on, how their relationship changed, how we finally learned what had happened to Angelina and made her the person she is, what Haithem was doing and what had prompted it – and it certainly wasn’t what I thought!  Its a fun read and I’m looking forward to book two. Its got plenty of heat in, but its not sex at first sight, rather something that develops from their enforced closeness. Fits the novel perfectly and is just the right amount of sex v story balance  Stars: Four and a half, that beginning was just a bit too unlikely for me to go five.

Deep? Dark? Alluring? Longing. . . to get to the next page and see where things go. Yes. There are things that each of you will need to judge for yourself. For one person may find something deep, dark, alluring while another will say that it was just barely touching the surface of what these words mean. I on the other hand found more inside the pages of this read than I initially anticipated. Now, I want underestimate the next read. I am awaiting Didn't You Promise. Not one to give away the book because I feel we all should read it for ourselves. I can say that both Angelina and Haithem are in for something that neither were expecting but maybe anticipating. Angelina was a sheltered young woman. She has yet to live life to the fullest. Haithem was a man of the world. Wealth. Prestige. Connections. Means. There was growth in character for Angelina. This was something that made the story work for me. The changes in her translates to the her by the end of the book. Haithem may be just a bit misunderstood because of his wealth and lifestyle. Amber Bardan did a good job on this one and leaves you with a sense that you want to continue on to the next book of the series. You feel as if you will be getting just as good if not better read from the up coming addition to this series. **This ARC was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

Bardan succeeded in providing genuine misdirection without even trying. Generally, when I read a Romantic Suspense or Mystery, I have some idea where it may be going. There are clues that seem to give you a sense of what the big reveal may be. In this instance, I was truly surprised. Amber Bardan succeeded in providing genuine misdirection without even trying. By withholding certain trivial information about both the hero and the heroine, the reader is forced to use their own imagination and that makes Didn’t I Warn You hard to put down. The whole time that I was reading, I kept thinking that I was on to something but I wasn’t. Heck, I’m not totally sure what the last names of the main characters are. I think that it was mentioned once or was it. Didn’t I Warn You centers around a chance and abrupt meeting between twenty-year-old Angelina of Australia and thirty-year-old Haithem who I think is Egyptian but it’s never really confirmed. Even as I write this, I’m still not totally sure about some of the details because they catch you by surprise. So let’s talk about what I am certain of. Angelina never lives on the wildside but decides to take a chance and try to get information on a handsome and sexy stranger after she nearly bombs an interview for a magazine. Both intrigued and suspicious of Angelina, Haithem invites Angelina to his yacht and they inadvertently end up taking a trip to ports unknown. By all accounts, Haithem kidnaps her or Angelina stows away on his yacht. You’ll have to read the book to decide for yourself. This question is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to real mystery regarding these two people. I wasn’t sure if Haithem was good or bad. Is Angelina a spy or just a lost girl. There were just so many questions. The good thing is that these questions appear to get answered in the end. This is the first book in the the Bad for You series so be prepared to have other questions that don’t get answered. In short, Didn’t I Warn You is a case of things aren’t what they seem. In this instance, it works really well. So well that I can only say so much without spoiling it. Just know that as Angelina and Haithem get to know each other, their sexual encounters will surely have you breaking for a cold shower. And when they aren’t fulfilling their carnal needs, you will be very suspicious of everything else that happens. **Received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest unbiased review.**
