If you could jump to any point in time and anonymously observe history, what time would you travel to? Its a question many fantasize about. And its the question on which Jeremy Robinson based The Didymus Contingency. The book centers around two physicists: Dr. Tom Greenbaum and Dr. David Goodman. Together they pioneer a new technology that lets them travel through time. Through an interesting and compelling turn of events, Tom Greenbaum has suffered a lapse in his religious faith. This leaves him somewhat at odds with his research partner, David Goodman. Finally, Tom decides to prove to David that his faith is unfounded. He jumps into the past arriving at a period several years before the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He plans to witness the supposed miracles of Christ and with a scientific mind, debunk them. David ends up chasing Tom back through time in an effort to prevent him from interfering with history. Together they spend a great deal of time witenessing biblical events first hand. The novels biblical central plot almost turned me away from the book. I'm not a particularly religious individual and I don't tend to enjoy religious debate and have little patience for those who try to foist their ideals upon others. Early in the book it became obvious that this was not the goal of the story. Though the plot centers on biblical events, it does so from a historic perspective and is not the least bit preachy while finding a remarkable balance that both religious and non-religious readers can enjoy. What would you do if you could go back in time? What what would you see? What would you try to change? Did events unfold as history has recorded? These are all questions covered as the story unfolds. The Didymus Contingency is a well written work of science fiction that takes readers on a truly unique time travel adventure. As I mentioned, the central subject almost led me to pass this book by. But I have become a big fan of Jeremy Robinson's other works and felt compelled to give this book a try. Not only was I not disappointed, but I am also happily recommending it to anyone interested in the time travel genre.

This is one of the books from Mr. Robinson that has a heavy influence from the bible. The storyline is great, and while it may not be non-stop action, it still has you tearing through pages as you delve into the past. Great read for anyone, believer or not.

Never a slow moment. I read over 100 pages without even realizing it. Suspense, action, and humor. Great book.

Whether you find yourself a believer of the Christian Bible or not, author Jeremy Robinson has crafted a sci-fi thriller that any history or sci-fi enthusiast will love. He has created a character, a quantum physicist named Tom, who has the brains, the ability and the resources to use science in creating a way to travel in time. Through a series of events, he also has a strong, personal motive to travel back to the time of Jesus of Nazareth for one purpose: to prove the man is a fake. But when he meets Jesus, he is surprised at how ¿human¿ this so-called deity really is. The author paints a refreshing picture of the historical Jesus through his novel that makes you reconsider your own view of the man. Where the author¿s skills shine and where the books develops its paged-turning, hard-to-put-down quality is in the way the author creates his fiction in a way that¿s true to the historical texts he uses as a reference. Each section is filled with dangers from the current timeline as well as dangers from the first century. Through it all, Tom continues to the bitter end in proving that his friend, which Jesus becomes to him, is, indeed, a fake. The scientist in him forces him to seek the truth in spite of his feelings. Through the well-crafted words of a fast-paced thriller, the author takes you on a journey of one man¿s personal pursuit for the truth, regardless of what history, and his closest friends may think. This is one journey you will be glad you took with Tom.

In this book we travel to the time of Jesus and are following the capers of Tom and David as they travel back and forth from the present to the past. They have been working on the time travel project for some time and have become very good friends in the process. One day, the time travel experiment actually works and they are off on their adventure. The catalyst for their destination is the death of Megan, Tom’s wife, at the hands of rebels while in Africa as a Christian missionary. Tom and David are out celebrating the success of their project. Tom has a little too much to drink and decides to go back in time to prove that Jesus Christ is a charlatan. That his wife died for a fraud. He runs off and travels to the distant past. David tries to catch up to him before Tom leaves, but doesn’t make it. The company they work for decides to send David back to bring Tom home. As soon as David leaves the company sends an assassin to kill them if they don’t come home immediately. However, Tom and David when a little farther back than their company knows. They meet up with Jesus just as he is calling his disciples. Tom and David travel throughout the country for several years following Jesus.  Throughout this book we see a side of Jesus rarely glimpsed. His human side. The author portrays Jesus as a regular man, very believable. His character is very different from any I have seen portrayed before, yet stays within the parameters of what is written in the Bible. Tom always finds ways to explain Jesus’s miracles and discredit them.  I enjoyed this book very much. I liked Tom and David, and, of course Jesus. The time travel was well written. The time periods were also very well written, although a lot of time was not expended describing the surroundings. Those who read Christian fiction will enjoy this book, as those who like science fiction, and historical writings. I highly recommend this book, but keep the tissues handy. Jesus’s crucifixion is written here. I would like to commend Jeremy Robinson on his ability to write a believable science fiction story around Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection.

Another fascinating read from Jeremy Robinson. What if you could go back in time and witness the life and then death of Jesus Christ. Two scientists, one an atheist, do exactly that. A story for believers and non-believers alike. This is actually Robinson's first book. A must read!

I expected SF. This book is religious BS portrayed as SF. Time travel to the past that "proves" that Jesus existed and was raised from the dead. It's less convincing and nowhere as interesting as Dr Who. If you want to read the bible this book is for you. If you want SF run far and fast away from this tripe.

A lot of people say if they could travel in time they would go back and meet Jesus. Tom and David, inventors of a time travelling device, do just that. For Tom, it is to prove that Jesus never resurrected and died and that Christians all over the world are believing in a fraud. For David it is to cement his firm beliefs. Jeremy Robinson does a great job relating the greatest story ever told in a way that makes a reader familiar with the story to think in a different light. You see Jesus as rarely seen, as a man; a man with friends, followers and a great destiny. For me this was not blasphemous at all but refreshing. It made me think of Jesus as a greater man than I have ever been taught. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

This book was interesting, fun and at times a little freaky. Which let's face it, is what Jeremy Robinson does best. I didn't really know what to expect from this book but having heard a lot of positive things about it thought it was high time I gave it a go. I can see why the book got so many positive comments and why so many people consider it to be one of Robinson's best work to date. It really grabs your attention and doesn't let go until the final page.

This is a DidyMUST read! Time travel, Love, Friendship, Action, and Jesus. it truly works on so many levels!!! Now. you dont have to be a Christian, like myself, to enjoy this novel. Yes, it follows the Bible's accounts of the last 2+ years of Jesus Christ's life. but, these accounts are from the perspective of two scientists from our time. one a Christian - the other an Atheist. There are some modern adventures mixed in as well. Soooo Good!!!

Of all the books this author has written, this has to be the best! Just read it a second time and have decided it needs to be read once a year without fail. Imagine being there to witness all the stories you have read about actually happening before your very eyes. How would you react if you met Jesus? This book makes you think and wonder.

This is a very clever idea and the story is extremely well told. There is never a dull moment. You're taken on a fascinating ride through time and history. You know the traditional story of what happened but this author weaves his characters into the situation in a delightful way. It is a wonderful and refreshing look at a known story. A delight to read.

Being a Christan I found this to be an intriguing and thought provoking. Thought provoking because of the way the author treated Jesus and His disciples as real life people with emotions, quirks, and habits. The underlying theme used by a number of authors with the doubter setting out to disprove an established person or theory find themselves through a series of events convinced otherwise. Even though this theme has been used again and again the author's handling of this theme, the characters, and the outcome are refreshing and inspire the reader to keep turning the pages while being absorbed in a tale of human nature as old as time.
