    A reviewer

While politicians and academicians insist that producing more per acre of land is the solution to hunger in America and the world, Frances Lappe's research suprises even herself. Bangladesh and Saharan nations, she discovers, can produce enough food to feed themselves. It is how land is used and who holds the power over it, which are determiners of hunger, even in America, the land of plenty. The book is a page turner: the facts are revelatory, and the invitation to become part of the solution to world hunger ever so appealing.
