    The Art of Survival

The Art of Survival ((WARNING! There is swearing and such in this book! Also, some gruesome scenes may be too much for you! Not like, incredibly bad, I'm not THAT good. :P :3 But just a heads-up!))

    Chapter 1- Griffin's POV

My salvation comes in the form of a wild-eyed blonde chic who looks like she just stepped out of a war zone- which I guess she did.
The huntlings (the new name for the zombies that have taken over) are closing in on me. I am weaponless, screaming, almost in tears. And if THAT wasn't bad enough, this is all in MY OWN front yard!
I swallow a sob and try to fend off the slashing, vicious huntlings. Just then, a metal baseball bat hits a huntling in the back of the head. The monster crumples, dead or close to it. Wham! The bat smashes another huntling aside. A third and a fourth fall to the attacker.
Finally, a narrow escape route! But in my way is my savior- the blonde. Her shorts and T-shirt are in tatters, and blood forms streaks on her clothes and skin. She reaches out a hand and snaps,
    "Come on!"
I stare, in a shocked daze. I'm alive!?
"You wanna live?" She shouts. Her loud question hits home. I take her hand and let her pull me out of the frenzy. We bolt down the street, towards a poorly parked car- and a nice one, at that. The girl jumps in the driver's seat, and I take shotgun. We speed away.
"So, what's your name?" I ask, running a shaky hand through my dark curls.
"Why were you in your yard in the middle of an apocalypse?" She arcs an eyebrow and shoot me a puzzled look.
"I was looking for something. They snuck up on me."
"Huntling 'snuck up' on you? Or were you just oblivious?"
I smile sheepishly and look away. "Well..."
"Huntlings are loud, loud, loud, and everywhere." After a short pause, she adds, "My name's Lucy, by the way. But if you EVER call me that-"
"Oh, don't worry." I reassure her quickly. "You just want me to call you dude?"
"Ha ha." She rolls her eyes. "Actually, Kristen works just fine."
"How do you get Kristen from Lucy?" I ask, blabbing in my relief at being alive.
"Middle name. Are you gonna tell me your name?"
    "Griffin. It's Griffin."
    "That's really cool. Seriously."
I smile a little and look out the window. A realization hits me, hard as a speeding train. "My brother..."
Kristen glances questioningly at me. "Yeah?"
"My brother. I just saw him across the street. Huntlings..." I remember what Kristen had said about huntlings. Loud, loud, loud...
    And everywhere.

Beautifully written. Gracias Sra. Serrano por tan verídic

Beautifully written. Gracias Sra.
