Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Barbara Wheatley
If you have mastered the basics of origami and need a challenge, this fourth and final book in the "Origami" series is for you. "If you've never tried origami, practice the skills in the easier books first. The models in this book have more steps, which require greater skill to complete," Alexander so aptly states. Included in the book are a description of materials that can be used for the origami projects, a page with detailed photographs that illustrate the basic folds needed and a page diagramming the folding symbols. The multi-step models include a speedboat that can really float on water, a beautiful lily and a three-dimensional picture frame. Intricate animal models are also featured, including catnip the cat, a lop-eared rabbit, a crested bird and a classic frog. Each of these projects requires an excellent knowledge of the basic folds and consists of many more folds and steps than the earlier books in the series. Even with detailed photographs and diagrams, younger children might become frustrated with these projects unless a skilled older child or adult is assisting. Fun facts about origami, table of contents, glossary, index and resource pages including Internet links and books add to the value of this book. Reviewer: Barbara Wheatley
