Children's Literature - Sarah Raymond
There is never a moment's rest for Bear and Digger on the construction site. They are busy working and digging in order to build a foundation for an adventure playground. Digger works hard all day, but then he hears a group of neighborhood children in distress. The kids are yelling because they are concerned about a cat stuck in a tree, and they are trying to find a way to get it down. Digger steps outside his role as a means for digging foundations and becomes a hero as he rescues the poor cat. Like the other books in the "Busy Wheels" series, this is filled with sound effects and illustrations that highlight what a construction site may sound and look like. The author pays particular attention to using terms specific to construction sites. The vocabulary goes beyond what is typically found in books about construction, delving into some of the finer details without becoming too confusing or too complicated for children.
