If you want to purchase only one book about (digital) photography, you should really consider this one. Written in a language everyone can understand, this book also contain some brilliant photos. The basic rules of photographing are introduced to the reader in a very 'easy to understand' way. And then photo samples are shown accompanied by some very informative words. What more can I say? Are you looking for a good book that really theaches you something about digital photography? This is the one!
This book is such a breath of fresh air! I've owned my Nikon Coolpix for a year and a half now and, until recently, have taken pictures on automatic. The manual that came with the camera, while very informative, is not easy to understand. Cox's book, on the other hand, is very unintimidating, easy to grasp, and fun to read. Strangely, his photography is dead on beautiful and while you might think, 'What's the point in trying? His stuff is far superior than mine could ever be!' you kind of feel like you are with him as a student on one of his back country journeys. Maybe one day I can take picture this well!!
Great book. Exactly what I wanted to learn about all types of nature photography, not just landscapes.
Jon has a great presence in his book. You read it and it seems like he's right there talking to you! There are wonderful insights and helpful tools throughout the entire book -not to mention the pictures are stunning. I would definatly (and have) recomend this book to a friend.
