With books on film photography becoming nearly obsolete, many writers are jumping in to replace them with digital equivalents. We are due for a great book on digital travel photography, but this is not it. Heller's travel photos are stunning, but he does not identify where they are taken. Much of his advice on travel photography isn't very different from that needed for stay-at-home shooting. More general books, like John Kim's 40 Digital Photography Techniques, 3d ed. (reviewed below) cover lenses, filters, memory cards, zoom, pixels, and night shooting as well if not better. Some advice, such as that on batteries, will shortly be out of date. Not essential.
