Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Summer Whiting
The appetites are raging and Olivia and her pals are gathering for lunch. She is enjoying her special sandwich when Francine pulls out her very own bento box! Olivia and Julian are quite impressed with Francine's explanation of this contraption. Francine decides that Olivia simply must come for dinner. Olivia's imagination runs wild as she pictures in her mind what dinner must be like at elegant Francine's house. Certainly, it would take place at a mansion with roller-skating waiters and monkeys juggling fruit! At Olivia's house that evening, she takes notice of her own family's dinner habits. Slurping and splattering of spaghetti and meatballs on the floor. How will she ever survive such a graceful and stylish dinner at Francine's house? Then the unimaginable happens. Olivia's mother insists that she invite Francine over to their house for dinner! Will Francine ever speak to Olivia again once she sees how simply inelegant her family is? Will their friendship survive this disastrous event? Sollinger captures the very spirit of Olivia, and Wolek's illustrations are inviting and cheerful. This is sure to be a favorite amongst young readers everywhere. The price is incredibly affordable and would make a great read aloud to the lower elementary grades. Reviewer: Summer Whiting

    We Love Olivia

We love the Olivia series at our house. My 5 year old will read these books over and over. Well written and entertaining for preschoolers.
