Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
This book should be a hit with boys and girls who love motorcycles and racing. Peter races dirt bikes and is gifted at repairing them. He runs away from his unpleasant foster home and, arriving in a new town, is tricked by three delinquents. One of the boys beats Peter up when he tries to help them. After the fight, they offer him money to join their gang and steal auto parts. He refuses, and they are more angry than before. Another boy, Giff, comes by and invites Peter to come home with him for dinner. Peter's life changes drastically after this. The family is welcoming, although Giff's pretty sister D.C. shows some initial resistance. Giff and .D.C. enjoy dirt bike racing, and they loan Peter an old bike so that he can repair it and race with them. The delinquents continue to make Peter's life miserable. During one race, a delinquent falls off his bike and is in danger of being run over. Peter stops his bike, pulls him from harm's way, and resumes the race. Time lost causes Peter to receive a poor score. Peter is a likeable sixteen-year-old, and is overjoyed when Giff's family asks him to live with them permanently. A glossary of words unique to the sport would be helpful. Part of the new "Matt Christopher Sports Library" series. The text is interesting and free of profanity. This would be a good choice for libraries or as a gift for a favorite young person. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro

If you are a dirt bike Enthusiast then check out this book.

This is a great story about a 16 year old boy who was unhappy with his foster family. He decides to run away. During his travels he comes in contact with good and bad people. The good ones include his new friend and soon to be brother named, Giff Mackenzie. He is a nice 16 year old boy who Peter meets at one of his dirtbike races. Giff invites Peter to his house to stay awhile. When Giff's parents learn that Peter has no shelter and is on the run, they soon adopt him. Giff's sister, D.C., is not happy with the arrangement in the beginning. In time she learns to love him like a brother. Peter also encounters some trouble makers along the way. This makes the book more interesting. My favorite of them was Dexter Pasini. He and his two friends are part of a special club that steals parts for their bikes at night. Peter decides not to join the club so the thugs beat him up and leave him aching and throbbing with pain. Stay tuned to see how much Peter enjoys his new family.

    Dirt bike Runaway

Dirt bike Runaway is a very interesting book. While you're going through reading the author really keeps you on your toes, or as in this story standing on the pegs the whole time.It was very exciting the whole time. The way the author gave deep details was very awesome. Some parts i didnt like , because the dirtbikes did not have real names. The author should have put real names like Honda or something.
