Overview

This new revised edition, of the landmark 1988 text, includes updated text and notes throughout, taking advantage of recent studies of sexual ethics and, where appropriate, criticizing them. A new chapter engages the presumed "ethic of creation7#34; that has become a major theme among more conservative thinkers and writers in biblical ethics. A concluding chapter on sex is thoroughly rewritten and offers a positive statement of a New Testament sexual ethic.

    Pointed, but exceptionally detailed.

There is a lot of material covered in this book, and if you're a slow reader like me, it can take awhile to sit through. Dr. Countryman raises a lot of issues here, not all of them being LGBT-related. Still, he makes plenty of strong arguments in this book, and he even points the reader to the research/source that supports and defends his major points. There are a significant number of spelling errors in this electronic version, but it is still a worthwhile read for anyone studying theology, economics, or the social sciences.
