Overview

Southern Texas heats up when four roughneck billionaires set their sights on love in the new series from New York Times bestselling author Jessica Clare.

Boone Price and his brothers know oil; at least, the dirty, backbreaking side of working an oil rig. But when their scrubby, worthless hunting land turns out to be sitting on top of one of the biggest oil wells in North America, they go from the rig to the boardroom and end up billionaires practically overnight.

Now with enough money to do whatever he wants, Boone is developing a taste for fine things. And the finest thing he's ever seen is Ivy Smithfield, local realtor. Boone's determined to win her affection and show the world that he's more than just a dirty fool with a bit of money. Ivy's classy and beautiful - she'll make the perfect trophy wife. The fact that she's sexy and funny is just a bonus.

There's one tiny problem - Ivy's as dirt poor as Boone was. Her carefully crafted veneer of luxury? All an act to promote her business. What's Boone going to do when he finds out the woman he's falling for is, well, in his league?

I love Ms. Clare and this new series is going to be fun. Boone and his 4 brothers become billionaires from hitting the "black gold." They come from a very poor background. They grew up in a trailer park, with a philandering father. Boone doesn't change his redneck ways for anyone, yet he is easily offended if he thinks someone thinks they're better than him. He wants to change his image and thinks buying a mansion will improve his image. This is how he meets Ivy, the realtor. He doesn't know at first, they come from similar backgrounds because Ivy has tried to reinvent herself and keeps this part of herself a secret.. You'll have to read the book. I loved his dirty talking and redneck ways. This story was funny, sad at times and had yummy sex. Looking forward to the others stories.

Boone is my new hero! God he is so sexy, gruff, rude and unapologetic and I loved him while at the same time I wanted to smack him on the head. Ivy was both a great foil and partner. I was just a tiny bit annoyed with Boone at the end, but I guess we needed the drama. LOVED all of this story and I can't wait for more.

✦Review: DIRTY MONEY (Roughneck Billionaires) by Jessica Clare http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-7Gk Publication Date: January 17, 2017 Genre: Contemporary Romance Reviewed by Reading in Pajamas/ Cori Rated 4 Stars DIRTY MONEY was so much fun! It's the first book in Jessica Clare's new Roughneck and Billionaires series. I picked it up after I finished reading a really emotional book and it was just what I needed. DIRTY MONEY was fun, sexy and entertaining. I really enjoyed it. Boone and his brothers kept me laughing and I'm hoping the Price brothers will get their own books. They were a little over the top and crazy sometimes but they were definitely entertaining. Boone started off poor, worked hard and struck it rich. He didn't feel the need to change once he had the money though. He remained the rough around the edges and outspoken man he was before the money. He knows what he wants and always goes for it. Boone and Ivy were perfect for each other and their chemistry was off the charts. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it for readers looking for a sexy and fun romance. Must love rough and dirty talking alphas. *Review copy provided by Penguin in exchange for an honest review.

These “boys” are still rough around the edges so if you are expecting smooth-talkin’ billionaires, be aware. Boone Price starts the book ready to kick some suit behind (you’ll get the reference when you read the story!) by just being himself. He and his brothers really are “new money” oil barons but they still live a lifestyle that is way below what they can afford and/or what society thinks they should be doing. Boone sees a photo of Ivy Smithfield in a real estate flyer and he goes on a hunt for her that amounts to him thinking that if he dates her, she will raise his level of respectability and class (to other people). Of course, all is not what it seems and what you end up with is a heartfelt story about two people who are just trying to get through the day, sometimes for very different reasons. Ivy and Boone are so very different, in some ways, and yet, they are both vulnerable under the exterior layers. The story had a bit more of the “rough neck” attitude for me but the story was well-written, funny, sexy, and at times, hilarious. I wish I could sometimes deal with MY problems as Boone does. Good story, with rough around the edges characters.

For the romance lovers who are tired of the same old CEO billionaire in a suit stories the wait for a new and unconventional kind of rich bad boy is over. Wonderfully well written and executed by Jessica Clare (yup, the same author who brought reality TV to romance novels), Dirty Money shakes up the billionaire genre with its very unique brand of hero. I was fascinated by Boone Price’s brash and uncouth nature and charmed with his and Ivy’s romance. Ivy grew up as Reba Smithfield and just as poor as Boone, but has reinvented herself as a sophisticated realtor to attract clients with deeper pockets. Boone Price and his brothers literally struck big when they found a vast oil well on their hunting land and instantly became billionaires. Grossing $20 million a day doesn’t earn respect though and Boone is determined to have it starting by moving out of his trailer and buying the biggest property the lovely Ivy can find and while he’s at it he’s also resolved in having her as his fancy trophy wife. When he meets her face to face, her kindness and beauty make him want her heart as well. But what will he do when he finds out not only that her background is just the same as his but that she’s been lying all along? As Boone boldly pursues Ivy stating his intentions to her outright, Ivy finds herself trapped between knowing that she’s deceiving a man who makes her smile and feel cherished and the burning attraction she feels towards him. She first tries to ignore him, then keep him at arm’s length but Boone is a single-minded man who won’t give up especially not when the tension between them crackles like spectacular 4th of July fireworks. This very sexy lumberjack billionaire stole the spotlight. I loved Boone’s honest, outlandish caveman ways. He’s almost childlike, selfishly acting before thinking throwing money around to get what he wants without apology. His over the top wooing and good natured personality made this a very fun and entertaining read. Dirty Money is the kickoff book in the Roughneck Billionaires series by Jessica Clare. It is a standalone contemporary romance told by both points of view with a happy ending.

3.75 stars--DIRTY MONEY is the first installment in Jessica Clare’s contemporary adult ROUGHNECK BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series focusing on the rags to riches Price Brothers of Texas. This is realtor Ivy Smithfield, and billionaire oil man Boone Price’s story line. Told from dual first person points of view (Boone and Ivy) DIRTY MONEY focuses on the building relationship between ‘rough around the edges’ billionaire oil man Boone Price, and realtor Ivy Smithfield. Boone is a self-made man who struck it rich in the oil fields of West Texas; and a man who doesn’t care about appearances or his public persona but when a real estate flyer featuring the beautiful and sexy Ivy Smithfield comes into his possession our hero is determined to find the woman that calls to his heart. What ensues is Boone’s ‘in your face’ attempts at seduction, and Ivy’s struggle to keep secret her past. Boone Price wants to become a better man: he has billions of dollars, plenty of land, and an oil company that continues to grow but what he doesn’t have is a beautiful house, a beautiful woman or the pedigree to woo Ivy Smithfield. Boone’s billionaire status lacks the respect he believes he deserves; his over the top reactions push the boundaries of civility and the norm. Ivy is a young, single woman raising her younger sister but a woman who hides the truth about her background and from where she comes. Boone’s persistent attempts soon break down our heroine’s defenses but she refuses to reveal anything about her past or her struggles to make ends meet. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and provocative. Boone’s ‘lumberjack’ beard enhances Ivy’s sexual pleasure. We are introduced to Ivy’s sister Wynonna- a young woman about to enter her first year of college, and one of Ivy’s co-workers and fellow struggling realtors Farah; Boone’s brothers Gage, Knox, Clay, and Seth –all of whom have a share of Price Brothers Oil. The requisite evil comes from the Three Jacks Real Estate –Ivy’s bosses –and the men who continue to remind Ivy from where she comes. The world building follows the growing love between Boone and Ivy, and the distinct differences between the haves and the have-nots. Ivy struggles to make ends meet to the detriment of her own health; her pride keeps our heroine from asking for help, while Boone is willing to give her anything she wants including a happily ever after. DIRTY MONEY reminds me a bit of the movie ‘Giant’ starring James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson among many other notable actors and actress of the time. James Dean’s character Jett Rink goes from rags to riches but is unable to earn the respect of his fellow millionaires. Respect must be earned not bought; the past is always part of one’s present. The premise is playful; the characters are energetic and animated; the romance is passionate and seductive. I am looking forward to the Price brother’s story lines.

This book is crass. Every one of JC's novels get worst and worst. I thought that Boon's thoughts and language was that of a teenage boy. Very neanderthal. Ivy was equally frustrating. For someone in such poor financial standing, she sure was dragging her feet to do her job to sale him a house to make commission. It's enough to make u want to quit halfway though the book.
