    Dirty, Sexy, Just Okay

I had high hopes for this book. The story of Cassandra a yarn shop owner who finds her half sisters (from a sperm donor) and is always trying to rescue people seems like a fun enough premise. This story takes place in Malibu and has all the California flair you would expect to see. The problem is that the story has characters that pop out of nowhere with no background. You'll find that there are leaps in the story line and discontinuities that are strange to follow. The main characters are flawed as you would expect but with little background to pull them all together. Over all it was an okay book that was entertaining enough - but I wouldn't buy it again.

The conclusion to the trilogy (which I still think should be a quad), this book focuses on yarn shop owner Cassandra Riley, who is reaching a benchmark birthday (30!); her mom has other plans, her newfound sperm donor half-sisters are both off doing their own "things," more than focused on her.

This book left me emotionally divided. Ridgway is a an excellent writer, and the way she weaves all the different personalities and their stories into a book without losing focus on the lead heroine and hero is brilliant, IMO. She also writes seriously hot sex scenes.

But, I had problems because Gabe, the hero, is a drink-till-you-pass-out drunk. He has a plausible reason, and he is not an actual addicted-to-alcohol alcoholic. I could believe that Cassandra, who was a firstborn/only child until recently, was a super-responsible Rescuer type. I liked the book, I liked the romance, I liked the surprise twist re: Cassie's previous level of experience, still... I am concerned with The Message it sends, that a young woman can get involved with an alcoholic/addicted/super-damaged person, and Rescue him, and in the end, find a Happily Ever After. In real life, it almost never works out that way.

AND - I still liked Marlys, the spoiled/selfish Army brat, better than the other characters. I am also not sure about Ridgway's use of prologue/flashback to tell this story, finding it somewhat gimmicky, though I read the whole thing anyway.

Not that dirty nor sexy, just okay

Maybe it's because I read the third in the series first, but I felt like I was already in the middle of a story. Everything seemed so sudden, especially the romance aspect. I actually enjoyed the relationship between the sisters and the plot surrounding the main character's family the best. Although there were a few steamy scenes, I didn't grow attached to the love story. The ending was good, but the journey there wasn't memorable.

    Satisfying Conclusion to Trilogy

...sudden intro of wacko character at novel's end felt contrived, although redeemed by lovely epilogue that nicely wraps up the series.

The final complex Malibu and Ewe contemporary romance is a fun finish

The media frenzy at times felt like a tsunami, but Cassandra Riley, owner of Malibu & Ewe knitting shop, survives the sperm donor ado as does her sisters heiress Honor Witherspoon (see UNRAVEL ME) and chef Nikki Carmichael (see HOW TO KNIT A WILD BIKINI). However, what she struggles with is seeing her neighbor Gabe drunk every day as he uses alcohol to bury the pain of grief, having interred his family.---------------

However, Cassandra feels lonely with her siblings having significant others. Turning thirty just adds to her depression. When people she has seen in forever show up and accidents begin occurring, Cassandra is confused. However, not as bewildered as she feels when she wakes up with Gabe sharing her bed.---------------

The final complex Malibu and Ewe contemporary romance is a fun finish that like its predecessors emphasizes how convoluted modern day families have become. The lead couple is a charming match up as Cassandra feels like singing Alone Again, Naturally (Gilbert O'Sullivan) while Gabe has turned to alcohol to numb the pain of his losses. Although it helps to have read the first two novels to better understand Cassandra's self pity, fans will enjoy the final knitting of relationships.--------------
