Is this the same as the cost of discipleship?

I first encountered Dietrich Bonhoeffer in college, and he has stayed with me since then (the mid to late 1970s). As a young, impressible Christian, Bonhoeffer made a huge impact on me, and has influenced my faith in many ways. The book is controversial, because he does not pull a single punch. He is writing in the context of the Nazi takeover of Germany, and can see first hand what happens when the church hold on to idols instead of Christ. This is not easy reading for two reasons. First, he packs a lot into every sentence. I found myself rereading sentences, to make sure I understood his meaning. But second, and more important, he calls us to a standard of life that is demanding...perhaps even impossible, but the trying is worth it.

It is a different translation, but it is the same idea. I believe this one is the best translation. Bonhoeffer named it simply "Discipleship," while the editors added the cost of. Bonhoeffer thinks discipleship implies cost, so it was unnecessary to include.
