I heartily recommend Discipline survival guide for the secondary teacher to beginning and veteran teachers alike. It contains solid strategies and techniques to support beginning teachers as they plan for and guide their first classes; and it contains some great reminders and fresh insights for those of us who have been in the trenches a while. I loved the emphasis on positive, proactive discipline which really underscored the student centred focus of the entire book. I also found that the teacher worksheets really helped me to clarify my thinking and classroom policies. I wish that I’d had such a valuable tool when I first started teaching!

A week before school starts and I am feeling more and more confident as I refine my behavior and classroom management plans based on ideas in this book. It is chock full of practical ideas and suggestions to put into practice right away. Includes worksheets and chapter summaries that really pull the information together.
