Discourse Studies
From these three articles, it can be seen that 'Discourses in Search of Members' is a collection of writings that will appeal to linguists, educators, anthropologists, intercultural communicators, sociologists, and historians, among others. Its 600+ page length reflects the depth of Scollon's scholarly endeavors; its scope of topics illustrates the social, cultural, and political breadth of discourse analysis.

Booknews
Consisting of 25 peer-reviewed contributions, this collection, edited by Li (English, City U. of Hong Kong), was originally meant to honor linguist Ron Scollon's two major concerns in discourse studies: how members of overlapping discourses acquire legitimacy of their memberships, consciously or otherwise; and how such discourses maintain their vitality and viability through self-perpetuating social practices of their members day to day. However, the diversity of research areas in discourse studies forced a somewhat broader and less coherent theme. The papers are organized into sections on educational discourse, critical and media studies, intercultural/interdiscourse communication, and language learning and comparative poetics. Annotation c.
