Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Stacey Hayman
This visually pleasing beading book for crafters is a smart purchase. The generous number of color photographs to show finished projects, to enhance simple explanations, and to view the beauty of the craft is what sets this title apart from others. Helpful information on necessary tools and materials and basic techniques begins the book. The "Tools and Materials" chapter provides labeled photographs for easy identification and a guide to choosing the right wire for a project. "Basic Techniques" includes photographs and a simple explanation of crimping, loops and jump rings, knots, and a method for estimating the number of beads needed for a project based on bead size and finished length. A color photograph provides a close-up view in each element of the step-by-step instructions. Color tabs, printed on the page, provide a simple way to differentiate between the "Stringing," "Wirework," and "Knotting" chapters. Each project has a complete list of required supplies, neatly placed in a clearly defined box, while numbered directions lead the reader from start to finish. Possible variations of the original design are offered with their own photographs and instructions. The twenty-four contributors provide a wide variety of styles from funky to elegant, from long to short, and from difficult to easy. This book will appeal to crafting teens and adults and would be a nice addition to any size public library.
