Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
This is the revised edition of Busselle's Castles in Spain (1989), which the reviewer could not acquire for comparative examination. Using the Michelin road maps for Spain, which the unsuspecting buyer must purchase separately, photographer/travel writer Busselle devises a motoring tour encompassing all 76 state-run hotels (paradors), affording him the opportunity to comment on the quality of the accommodation, cuisine, and ambiance of each. Costs are never mentioned. The itinerary includes excursions to neighboring hillside towns, castles, and palaces, but historical information is slight since much space is devoted to the lush, enticing photographs that dominate this cumbersome (8" x 10") guide. Road directions are precise. A "Gazetteer of the Paradors" provides phone/FAX numbers, address, and number of rooms. Travelers are better served by either the superb Eyewitness Guide or Lonely Planet's guide to Spain. Not recommended.Lonnie Weatherby, McGill Univ., Montreal
